deep story

Deep stories all the way.

PS2|Wii|DS lite|3DS XL|PSP|Android

Games like Mass Effect represent my favorite type of storytelling in a game, with deep characters and a deep universe being the focal point.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

I prefer having no stories. Stories end, games do not. You can play chess over and over again (if you can stand the repetitiveness). If I want to experience stories, there's movies, books, other literature, and even audio. When I play a videoGAME I want to PLAY and not control an interactive story that has mostly a scripted outcome anyways.
Videogames with a story but well defined tasks/challenges are ok, though, as long as it's about those elements (gameplay you might say) and not just the story.

The stories where your choices matter is what I like these days.
Otherwise, game-dependent... though I would say deep > light.

It really depends on the game. For example, I equally like xenoblade and mario galaxy, however, one has a deep story and the other doesn't.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

In the gaming industry, deep plots are pretentious and full of nonsense, specially in JRPG's. There is no message that the game can send to us when we are more focused on the tits of the main female protagonist or on the sexual innuendo from the cutscenes.

I do like having good characters but it's better to keep the plot simple. The Tales of series for example, get the characters right most of the time (and the battle system too!) but the plot is full of terms and complicated stuff that only serve to confuse. Specially because we are always introduced to exotic terms at the beggining of the game and you have to wait hours to understand what that exotic word meant.

Put a spoiler tag for "Tales of the Abyss".

They took it way too fucking far with that one.

Indeed! You read my mind, I was going to put an example from Tales of the Abyss!

All Tales of games are full of those things though, Xillia has it moments too but it doesn't take nearly as much time to understand some of the terms.

Shit, I finished TotA, and I still don't understand most of it. I even watched the anime.

If you understood their bs, then you're worthy of praise.
