Bought one when the second shipment came in the spring of 2001 with Onimusha. Back when launch consoles were MUCH more powerful than the previous gen and MUCH less expensive. What a concept.
I got it right around when GTA 3 came out. Man It was so crazy how the world reacted to that game. It truly was the beginning of a whole new era when that came out...

I really enjoyed that game, but I remember thinking 'WTF' you could only control the character with the D-pad, I hated that.
I remember my first game for it being This Is Football 2004.

Tekken Tag Tournament is a BADASS game.

Yeah, oddly enough, I don't remember noticing when I first played it. I only noticed when I played it again a couple years ago. I did the same thing...like...WTF? lol. It was still a great game. Sort of like Resident Evil in ancient Japan. And who could forget their first time seeing that opening cut scene? It was jaw dropping imo.
I bought mine in August 2011 (yes 2011 not 2001). The store clerk asked me if I really had ordered a PS2 and not PS3. I was exclusively a PC gamer till then. I won't go into backstory but let's just say that I'm a Playstation fan now, but PC will always be the best platform and I'm not planning on getting a PS4 because I don't believe it will have exclusives that I will be interested in (more Uncharted or God of War? No thanks).
Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Christmas day 2002! Got GT3, Midnight club, Smackdown SYM and that DBZ game.
I dont remember the exact day, but i know i got it before GT3 came out. So between march and june. Probably march, wich is something im trying to do again with the PS4, but its proving more difficult than last time. xD
Anyways i got Ridge Racer V with it. I remember beeing impressed with the graphics, but the kind of game wasnt for me so i ended up selling it.
I got GT3 A-spec and i played that alot. I got Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear solid 2 (wich was a disappointment), ZOE, GTA3. I got FFX aswell wich came out much later in europe.
Either way that was one hell of a first year line-up. Wish we had that now. xD
