Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Is Creative...

This thread is idiotic... The only thing uncreative about Nintendo's franchises is that they use the same mascot characters in all of them. Beyond that, you won't find a more diverse and creative games which evolve and reinvent a series with every iteration.

So what if half of them take the mario name. The fact that mario was attached to a games name means that instead of a pathetic 4 million sales that something like "the Last of Us" achieved, it would get 10 million.

The only thing I don't like about Nintendo is that they don't buy up more development studios and that they don't branch out into more genres. I would love to see Nintendo make an MMO game.

You didn't read the OP careful enough.

1. The only games with Mario in the name that are close to 10 million since 2011 are 3D Land, MK7, and NSMB2...

2. 4 million isn't pathetic at all, especially for a new IP. I also think TLOU could have great legs like Uncharted, so I wouldn't be surprised if it outsells Mario Sunshine.

No, not really. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but they essentially keep the same franchises and hardly expand with any new IPs at all (which take the most creativity). Nintendo has not created any creative software with substantial impact in the past 10 years.

But yet their software sold the most last gen. No exclusive of MS and Sony could even get a third of the sales Mario Kart 7 and Wii Sports got. They had many high rated games from the critics. So perhaps continuing to make the same games that people like is better than trying something totally new.

Those games will have no lasting impact on the video game industry. Sales are great for current relevance, just look in any industry really (music and film particularly), but just as the music and films that perform well commercially do not always have the most impact, the same can be said for the video games that sell the most.

They are, but why can't they use that creativity on their game titles?

Mario Party 1-9

Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3

Super Mario World, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2, 3D Land, and 3D World

Super Paper Mario

Mario Kart DS and onward

Dr. Luigi

NES Remix

NES Remix 2

New Super Mario Bros. series

And more

Bold.

Those are four different series. Sure they are all 3D mario, but the similarities stop there.

Personally i think the problem is that, altough the gameplay is very different, the graphics, the atmosphere, the characters, the music, the story and sound effects are all the same across 90% of the recent games nintendo has published.

That's true.

Super Mario World is a 3D Mario?

I'm saying the names aren't creative at all. 64 bits? Super Mario 64. Shine sprites? Super Mario Sunshine. In space? Super Mario Galaxy. It's 3D? 3D Land. 3D Land, but bigger and better? 3D World. I don't need to explain the how Super Mario World isn't a creative name.

I wonder how many people got the joke

Is Soleron the punchline? Because that looks like something he'd might say.

Zelda! Zelda! Zelda in time, Zelda on a Train, all things Zelda!

Wii Sports! Wii Play! Wii Sports Resort! Wii Sports with Mario and Sonic + Olympics.

Hey, I think you have a point there. Can you imagine if they have just been remaking the guys from Donkey Kong, over and over again?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
