Something to ponder how come the ps360 havent gone below 199? looking at the gens previous sub $199 was the norm torwards the end and even mid way into a gen, why not now?   ps3 hit that mark last year with a HDDless 12gb sku that many including myself believed that a HDDless should of hit the market way back in 2009.  360 hit 199 way way back in 2008 and there HDDless sku is still at that price, aswell as both ps3 and 360s HDD skus still retailing at $250 and above. 

With the new gen having a remarkable start for both MS and Sony aswell as there still being strong SW support for last gen why havent the 2 done a price cut to 149 or 99 yet?  looking at the last 2-3 years or so there has been a sharp decline in sales for the two one would only think a price cut would be in order.  arent the two now making bank with there new HW? sony now also making bank from PSN requiring a sub for any online play with there ps4. 

so whats the deal will we ever see 149 and 99 from either ever? if so when and why havent they gone there now

The 360 might have that potential, if production still is high enough - lower production ofcourse means higher cost per unit.
For the PS3 this should be harder, as the Cell and the very uncommon XDR ram don't really become cheaper to produce.

To 169 will be possible and then a last price cut for a final sellout to 139. And then Sony and Ms are putting all their focus on the actual generation...

where are you getting 75M?

vgc shows 42 + 25=67M even with that you have to assume some consumers rebought there console over there gen at least once using vgcs numberes i wouldnt be suprised if 360 +ps3 is at less than 60M users

the point of the price cut for both would be to stimulate and or maintian sales, both still have and will have meaningfull SW releases
