Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should make a Wii U bundle with crazy value

Old games wont do the trick.

For xmas just bundle Smash Mario and Kart with the wiiu for 250, if that cant move units they might as well dreamcast the U.

Not that be a hell of a bundle.  Could work, Sony sold GT6 and TLOS bundle in europe if im not mistaken.

it won't magically move hardware. A lot of people still prefer physical games. So even freebies as digital wouldn't entice that many.

However it doesn't cost them anything so worth a shot. May prove me wrong.

If the games are preloaded on the HDD and the box is full of pictures saying 10+ free games then I think it would have an impact.

Preloaded probably would work but he mentioned PS+ where you signup and download the free games. Although not sure if old virtual console games alone would be enough.

Some HD remakes  or upscaled may do the trick

i.e. metroid trilogy if they planning on releasing a 4th one soon or twilight princess to hype the next zelda.

basically try to find games that may relate to future releases.

For the kids bundle fun kids games.

Then also throw in some VC games, but VC games alone from 15-20 years ago alone won't work.

Your thread title has it right, but the proposal in the OP won't work.

I understand that you're looking at it from the perspective of quantified value and not costing Nintendo anything more, but Nintendo's classics are not going to make people run out and buy their new console.

There's no need to over-complicate things regarding the situation or for consumers. Nintendo simply needs to offer something that the market is going to respond to (Mario Kart 8) and they need to offer it for as close to "impulse buy" price as possible ($249). The same applies to a $249 Smash bundle this holiday.

Bundling MK8 at the current $299 price would be better than nothing, but at this point Nintendo needs a one-two punch, and an additional $50 price drop would do just that. Dropping the price further wouldn't be necessary for a long while. Their best bet is to move as many consoles as possible so that they can move as much software as possible to help with offsetting the losses they will undoubtedly face.

Nintendo have painted themselves into a corner with this console and they have to roll with the punches at this point if offering a SKU sans Gamepad isn't an option.

Not gonna happen, it's not in Nintendo DNA to provide services like PS Plus considering first parties titles stay at full price for a long time

If Nintendo does do something esque-PS+, it should be optional. Thats the only thing thats keeping me from getting a PS4.

$50 eShop card for anything you want. I'd buy it.

I think it's the way to go.. more value..

The N+ thing, would be good.. (a service like ps+.. mayby free in 2014)

Or/and a VC Channel.. new games every month.. or just some free downloads

They also had to launch more channels.. make a super Nintendo tv in europe.. let us play avi/mp4 that way to.. and where is pokerstars :)

I would also like to see a hardcore bundle.. upad and procontroller

But most of all.. they need to make the "hardware" more value.. i would like to see a new wii-u at e3.. a "tighter" design like ds - lite.. both the wii-u console and the upad (good time to show the hardcore bundle to)

A Nintendo VC App/Channel sounds like a great idea. They can have a featured free title once a month for members, digital Nintendo soundtracks on sale, and a seamless connection with Club Nintendo Points and offers.

wouldn't using wii games confuse consumers even more? The last few years taught me that consumers are surprisingly dumb

Yes.. and now that i think of it.. They could also do some revard thing.. like when you complete MK8 (3 stars every course) u get MK snes.. (better than just include it.. we like to be revarded :)
