I am a Playstation follower since PS2. I've never been that disapointed by any of their piece of hardware. I own a PS4 and a PS Vita actually.
I wonder now if the Playstation Brand could not be too big for Sony to handle. Sony is not that a healthy company at the moment we speak. You just need to look at their stock charts to see that they don't have that many rooms to move : http://ycharts.com/companies/SNE. Don't get me wrong, Sony is still a big corporation and quite a strong name. Their entreprise value is something like 30 billions dollars. In terms of pure value and numbers Sony butchers Nintendo by a FAIR lenght. They have something like 150 000 employees and the japanese governement would not think twice in order to help Sony. But even if Sony is far from being in bankroute state, Sony is not Samsung, Apple, Google - or to a lesser extent - Microsoft either.
Money is the problem.
- They struggled hard to deliver Playstation 4 worldwide and, as a matter of fact, it's still difficult to find a Playstation 4 at the moment we speak. It's quite important since without this problem, Sony would have take a bigger advantage by now.
- Sony lacks money so they quite struggle to release that many news ip because of the risk of loosing money. Earlier in this week a Santa Monica's developper spoke of the problem regarding a new ip being canceled by Sony. 100 millions is a minor detail for Samsung or Google, but it's a huge amount for Sony at the moment we speak.
Playstation brand is the most important name regarding video games, it's a fucking solid brand name. But a lot of things make me think that the name's too big for Sony now. If they had enough money they could do things with much ease regarding the playstation brand. Problem is, they don't have that much money for the gaming departement. Playstation under Samsung would kill everything in my opinion. We would have a lot of quick new games, lot of ports, lot of update, more freedom regarding hardware ect...
