Forums - Nintendo - What is Retro Studios REALLY up to?

I don't care. Everything they have made is gold. I like gold.

After playing Star Fox on 3DS I kinda hope they DON'T work on that franchise; I was kinda disappointed by that game. I'm hoping for a new IP, or that they update Star Fox in the same way they did with Metroid.

You say that like Retro Studios developed StarFox 64 3D... o_O

I just think that Star Fox is an overrated franchise, so I'm more keen to see Retro working on something truly great, than something that's "just" good. Maybe I'll be amazed of what Retro can do with the franchise, but an on-rail space shooter... They'd have to stray away from the "core" of Star Fox. Metroid never did that. DKC never did that.

Not sure what you mean... Retro revived the Metroid series with Prime and did a damned fine job.  Retro revived the DKC series and did a damned fine job.  Retro revives the Starfox series and does a damned fine job?  I like the power of positive thinking, lol

Yes, hopefully they'd revive and reimagine Star Fox if they got to work with it. The thing with Prime is, all they did was move it into first person view; everything else was already there. The core of the game never changed, and I don't feel like Star Fox has as strong a core as Metroid. And as far as DK goes, they didn't really add something new to the series...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

i really think to to make NEW IP! Nintendo need Core Games

Given their track record, the fact that they designed some Mario Kart tracks, and are the DKC franchise studio it's probable they'll release Diddy Kong Racing Returns in 2-4 years.

Maybe MK8?

Personally I hope that they are making something like this:

By the by, funny thing. Was on the one minute review of DKC TF today and saw a comment made by you. The world sure is small. :D

I'd be very, very surprised. Not gonna happen methinks.

That would be fantastic, as Diddy Kong Racing is miles better than Mario Kart.

They hinted at having been working since last fall on a franchise they haven't previously handled.

My bet would be it's still a Nintendo franchise thing, but I'm thinking they won't have anything ready for showing at E3.

Personally I'd love to see something completely new.

Other than that, F Zero is a franchise I would give my left nut to see brought back.

BUT, I think Metroid or Star Fox is most likely to be there current project.

That would give them 6 months or more in development so a teaser trailer could be possible at E3
