Forums - Nintendo - What would get you to buy the Wii U as is?

Do you own a Wii U?

Yes, I do. 131 58.22%

No, but I plan on getting one. 30 13.33%

No, and I don't plan on getting one. 43 19.11%

No, and I'm still unsure... 21 9.33%

Total:225

For me, if I didn't already own a Wii U, I'd probably wait for Zelda for Wii U, 3D Mario, or Metroid for Wii U. (Whichever came first) By that time we'd have:

Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Monolith Soft's "X"
Bayonetta 2
Hyrule Warriors
Watch_Dogs
Super Mario 3D World
Sonic Lost World
Sonic Boom
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Directors Cut
Q.U.B.E. Director's Cut
Teslegrad
Ballpoint Universe: Infinite
Mighty No. 9
Virtual Console

The price was never an issue to me. I only had a Wii last gen (I was barely even a casual gamer last gen) so when the HD Wii U came out, I just needed a game I wanted to play. That's what I did with my 3DS. I never buy Nintendo handhelds until they reveal it's first Pokemon game. Once I had it, I was actually playing catch up lol.

Should be an option for "I did, but didnt keep it" as I sold mine after it went 6 months without even being turned on

We're talking about Wii Us, not girlfriends.

... I kid, of course.

That actually made my day ^.^

Is there anything Nintendo could do to get you to repurchase one?

The point of this thread is to sort of figure out what Nintendo needs to do to get "gamers" on board with the Wii U. I know that a lot of people think that the answer is 3rd party support, but I don't think so. Anyone who wants a third party game would probably rather have the better looking version on any one of the systems. So what can Nintendo do to improve itself?

For me personally as it is now I would say "no I would not buy." The Wii U is to expensive for what you get. Once X, next gen Zelda is released and maybe super smash I will consider a wii u if the price is dropped to $200 OR maybe $250 (but thats a stretch)

Edit: Sorry for bringing up price but for me its a huge issue with wii u. That and Nintendo really needs new ip. I love zelda but im getting kind of sick of it, specially since skyward sword was a huge disappointment.

1. They release a true sequel to Super Mario RPG with Geno, Mallow, etc.
2. If it was given to me for free.

Well, if Mario Kart 8 turns out good (which I imagine it will), announce a new Metroid Prime and a Zelda with more realistic graphics (like Twilight Princess) then I might be tempted at the right price. But price is a big hurdle, as the controller will always inflate the price and having used it, it added nothing I liked to the games I played and was awkward to use.

But, release a cheaper model without the controller and the 3 games I mentioned, I would be back in a flash!

EDIT: though I would definitly buy one if the above scenario came true, unless they kept good support for it I could see myself selling it again once I completed those. I know Nintendo have the ability to produce top class games, you wont find better first party titles anywhere else. But they need to speed up the process to get those type of games into our hands, Its not good having to wait over 6 months between getting those top games

Wii U at 149$ with no gamepad just the pro controller and Smash Brothers

Nothing.
Im not interested in its exclusives and I dont see any point picking it for multiplatforms.

For me to buy it at $300, the bundled game needs to Mario Kart 8. Otherwise, post MK8's release, they'd need to cut the price by atleast $50.
