Forums - Microsoft - Stephen Elop to be put in charge of Xbox?

http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/24/5444160/microsoft-management-shift-elop-larson-green-devices-services

Stephen Elop may not be Microsoft's new CEO, but the former head of Nokia is not going unrewarded for bringing the phone manufacturer into the Microsoft fold. According to an internal memo, Elop will replace Julie Larson-Green as the head of Microsoft's Devices and Studios business, putting him in charge of Xbox, Microsoft Surface, and Microsoft's game development efforts, in addition to the new cellular handset business. Originally, Elop had been slated to run an expanded devices team upon his return to Microsoft, but it now appears he'll control the entire division.

So, is this good news or bad news?

Probably not a good thing for the XBox division. Elop reportedly was considering selling off/spinning off the XBox division:

Besides emphasizing Office, Elop would be prepared to sell or shut down major businesses to sharpen the company’s focus, the people said. He would consider ending Microsoft’s costly effort to take on Google with its Bing search engine, and would also consider selling healthy businesses such as the Xbox game console if he determined they weren’t critical to the company’s strategy, the people said.

The PS5 Exists.

Good news for the company that wants to buy Xbox for cheap. Nokia style baby!

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Rather than selling the game division IMO they should make an alliance/partnership with Nintendo.

Have Ken Lobb head up a joint Microsoft-Nintendo game studio, he knows Nintendo well as he worked for NOA in the past.

Hand over the development of future Halo/Gears titles to be overseen by Nintendo, they will ensure a good quality product. Give Nintendo the keys back to Rare and let them oversee 343 Studios.

If they sell to Amazon, Amazon is pushing the Android OS (or their own version of it). I don't know how that would sit with Microsoft ... Nintendo is obviously no threat to them OS wise. I think Nintendo has been humbled enough that they could be decent stewarts of MS' gaming assets.

Dude who wants to kill off Xbox is now in charge of Xbox. Makes sense.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

As an investor in stock, I hope so. I hope they put that little troll man in charge. Then they split off the Devices Division. I want that little short limb leprechaun to get the stock to drop really low, like he did for Nokia. Then I'll buy a shit load of stock. Then he can do his magic and get the stock back up.

When Nokia stock dropped to around $1.65, he bought 1 million dollars worth of stock and now it's 6 times worth it's value.

VGChartz♥♥♥♥♥FOREVER

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Microsoft already tried to buy Nintendo for 25 billion. Nintendo thought the offer was a joke. I doubt they would even consider something like this.
