Forums - Sony - Will Vita get a successor? It's not doing that bad in Japan

I feel as though it's still too soon to definitely say yes or no. However, hasn't Sony's mobile sector been looking up? They may want to focus more on that in the coming future seeing as how their Handheld is looking down.

We will see, maybe they'll just adjust to the fact of being more niche in the Handheld side of things.

so the next console could be a success or a fail.

Like every console ever

All sega console sold poorly and that's why sega stop making console

If it's possible to Sony to make a new successfull i don't see why sony should not try to make another handheld,Nintendo didn't stop to make console just because gamecube was a big fail.

GameCube was successful enough, Vita isn't.

You called a console that sold 20 millions an success?

Both gamecube and vita are not successfull.

It made them money, so it was a success.

do you have proof that vita won't make money.

Well...

1. GameCube's tracking ahead

2. GameCube sold more software

Even if Vita makes money, won't be close to GameCube's profits.

So because gamecube is tracking ahead vita is not making money?

Vita has something didn't have is indies ,i think indies makes a good amount of money for Sony.

Let's forget about gamecube all Sega console sold poorly why Sega didn't stop making console just when their first console sold poorly , i don't think one fail is an good reason to stop making an new  console or handheld.

We're getting off subject. We're agreeing, actually. Any console has a chance of being a failure or a success. Also, Genesis didn't sell poorly.

when 3ds was selling like 20k/week after launch, everyone was talking about epic bomba. when vita is selling like 17-20K in Japan (and this after price cut and with psv 2000 and vita tv) people say about "not that bad". oh lol. double standards...

In what world are expectations for Nintendo's handheld the same as Sony's handheld? Of course there's a double standard because expectations for the two devices are completely different.

Even with the standard that Nintendo's Handhelds sell better than Sony's, both numbers are quite horrid. PSP actually sold really well, to my memory.

No, they will focus digitally and spread everything through their mobile phones and tablets.

PS Now is the sign of everything.

There is no reason for it at this point.

The Vita can endure 2 gens on the market. It will probably have comparable strength to the next Nintendo portable.

This all depends on Sony. I think it would be best if they stayed in the market for 2 gens with the Vita. Well... more like 1.5 but you get what i mean. There really is no point in putting out a new system until the Vita becomes a resounding sucess at least in Japan.

3DS hit 15mil in less than 3 years on the market (japan). How is that horrid #s?

I actually believe it is not doing that bad in EU. Weekly sales numbers aren't that far from Japan and taking in account all the effort in Japanese marketing, games, price cuts and SKUs, EU is doing pretty OK without any efforts. I wonder how it could sell in EU if Sony started trying.

well to be fair all the doom and gloom wen 3ds first arrive and the waiting for vita kills your statement. Just saying

That said its not fair that 3DS+Vita are doing supposedly bad cuz of its predecessor!

I think he's talking more about how it's doing now rather than it's performance post price cut.
