i kno wat you mean but its already sold 15mil, your talking about sales now, in which i think its non sense. 3DS has already sold alot to the consumers, why do yo expect it to sell almost the same as it previously does? How many more gamers are suppose to buy the system? There is also the fact that thier is still a price cut to be made and maybe 1 more model

Did you read what I posted? I'm talking about the sales in 2011 when it was really bad. It's doing pretty well now, although not up to snuff with last year.

2011 wasnt it doing good after price cut? I kno before it was selling 15k-25k a week

Nope. Sony will concentrate on Mobile gaming instead.

when 3ds was selling like 20k/week after launch, everyone was talking about epic bomba. when vita is selling like 17-20K in Japan (and this after price cut and with psv 2000 and vita tv) people say about "not that bad". oh lol. double standards...

No double standards, just flawed logic on your part. Nds dominated the market and was selling extremely well by  the time the 3ds launched. It pulled some great numbers and was doing great until... it wasn't. The expectation was for it to dominate, especially since it had no competition. psp had died in the west and vita hadn't launched. Those numbers were terrible.

On the other hand you have the vita. A console launching much after the psp had died, much after the 3ds was released and had already developed a strong install base. Developers had no reason to support it over the 3ds. Considering its competition, the psvita is doing "not that bad". Considering it's competition (and it's predecessor), the 3ds was bombing.

Same with ps3 and ps2. The ps3 never did really bad. But it was considereed a failure because of how badly it did after the ps2. It hurt the brand and made xbox a true competitior. It's all about perspective and not just "double standards".

I love the Vita but I hope Sony doesn't make another handheld.

so the next console could be a success or a fail.

Like every console ever

All sega console sold poorly and that's why sega stop making console

If it's possible to Sony to make a new successfull i don't see why sony should not try to make another handheld,Nintendo didn't stop to make console just because gamecube was a big fail.

GameCube was successful enough, Vita isn't.

You called a console that sold 20 millions an success?

Both gamecube and vita are not successfull.

It made them money, so it was a success.

do you have proof that vita won't make money.

Well...

1. GameCube's tracking ahead

2. GameCube sold more software

Even if Vita makes money, won't be close to GameCube's profits.

So because gamecube is tracking ahead vita is not making money?

Vita has something didn't have is indies ,i think indies makes a good amount of money for Sony.

Let's forget about gamecube all Sega console sold poorly why Sega didn't stop making console just when their first console sold poorly , i don't think one fail is an good reason to stop making an new  console or handheld.

We're getting off subject. We're agreeing, actually. Any console has a chance of being a failure or a success. Also, Genesis didn't sell poorly.

Yes any console has a chance of being failure or a success and that's why Sony could try no make another handheld.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Hmm.. No reason they wouldn't. Imagine emulating ps3 games on a handheld. That would be awesomw. Sony just have to be less ambitious with the hardware.

nope

This is what I day too. I find it funny. But, to answer the op, no, I don't think Sony will release another handheld. It needs to be a worldwide success. The vita selling sub par in its homeland is hardly worth it's existence. 1 million sold , more or less, per year just isn't worth it, at all.

In what world are expectations for Nintendo's handheld the same as Sony's handheld? Of course there's a double standard because expectations for the two devices are completely different.

Even with the standard that Nintendo's Handhelds sell better than Sony's, both numbers are quite horrid. PSP actually sold really well, to my memory.

3DS hit 15mil in less than 3 years on the market (japan). How is that horrid #s?

I think he's talking more about how it's doing now rather than it's performance post price cut.

but here is the thing i dont understand. It hasn't gotten a price cut in 2 years and 7 months + it got1 new model (2012 summer), and it sold 15mil in almost 3 years. Now its declined YoY but hasn't done extraordinary already? you cant get much more better than that.

If it does lets say 2.5mil this year in japan, many people will post all this negativity about its doing terrible/horrid numbers which in why i look at total sales and dont understand!

Sometimes people's expectations are so high its complete non sense. Looking at Wii/DS/PSP sales and alot of people expect the next installments to do the same/better when they were top peak of the gaming industry. PSP/DS especially sold fantastic, it was obvious 3DS/PSPwoould never sell close to them.

If 3DS stop selling today its still an amazing feat for it to sell 15mil. Also vita is expecte to be up YoY. Some people compare YoY sales to make the vita look good/ 3DS to look bad which is just silly. Its the same with WiiU wen it goes up YoY trying to compare to make it look good.

You make good points here tbone. And here's another thing, comparing the 3ds to ds and saying it's kind of a failure for not matching it, is like saying the ps3 is a failure for not matching the ps2.  It doesn't make sence. And another thing people seem to be forgetting, at $250, the 3ds sold what, 5 million before the price cut worldwide? That's actually impressive to me. At $250, it was still selling better, on average, than the vita ever has in Japan. It only dropped to very low levels after Nintendo announced the price cut and sat on it for weeks before actually dropping the price. It's impressive that they still sold 10k per week before the price it, considering those people knew it would be cheaper in a matter of weeks/days....

I hope they don't; I want them to focus on PS4.

I honestly don't see the appeal in a handheld if you are an adult man who is working.
