I only read the OP but I think it's a possibility. The game is nice to look at, especially the Kongs, but the backgrounds aren't really that tough to replicate. I think it will happen.

Tropical Freeze couldn't run on 3DS; even the Wii game needed to be downgraded and re-engineered, 3DS would choke on Tropical Freeze unless it was deconstructed and rebuilt in a very simplified manner, which would be more costly than your average port.
