All those PC gamers must feel stupid playing games in 1080p all these years, guess you just needed an unbiased Xbox fan to tell you how there is no difference.
Silly PC gamers.

I have to remind you just like in this case. And where did I say my opinion is better than anybody else? Paranoia?
| Normchacho said: Well no, it's fine that you think Ryse looks better than Killzone, I actually think Ryse looks a little better than Killzone too. But this is a thread about resolution, it's a technical piece that isn't even actually limited to games. So while it's fine that you have your opinion, it's a little irrelevant. |
You should reflect a bit on the bolded phrase about yourself. Good advice for you.
Your pinion matters here I believe but you're not the owner of absolute truth.
I can tell you this: Native resolution always looks best on modern LCD and OLED screens. You can clearly see how everything is just a lot crispier than upscaled. But you need to know yourself if it matters for you or not. It's kinda of a personal thing. The scaling on plasma TVs is a lot better so you'll notice less when looking at non-native material. But who is still using Plasma, really? :P
For me personal, resolution does matter. I really enjoy Full HD games, movies and images. But if it isn't Full HD, it doesn't ruin a game for me. Hell, I'm still playing PS3 and enjoying it like there's no tomorrow. But if I had a choice? I'd take higher resolution any day.
It's really only important is you happen to have both consoles. Then you will naturally go for PS4 multiplats. For everyone else though, they just get the game for the console they have. It may be a little prettier on PS4, but it's nothing that makes the game unplayable or something. But in the end, if you're not into MS exclusives, the PS4 is no doubt the system to go this gen hands down.
Just my 2 cents.

Gotta be on crazy pills to try and defend 720p on a $500 new piece of hardware when last gen consoles had it as the standard. 900p doesn't bother me too much, but it's still less than optimal.

No, I was referring to third party software.

Well those third party games are avaiable on 3 other platforms at minimum. It doesn't give the consumer a real reason to upgrade. |
You're using logic, but ignoring the facts.
The best selling games on PS4 and X1 are crossplat multiplat games. That means the biggest reason people are upgrading at the moment is to play more polished ports.
Furthermore, 3rd parties account for a vast majority of software sales on Xbox and Playstation consoles. Therefore 3rd party support is actually more important than 1st party games.
Now I'm not saying 1st party PS4 games don't matter, they certainly help move some hardware. But what really made the PS4 a success is price of the console and 3rd party support.
Look at the Vita for example, that's what happens to a CORE PLATFORM when consumers don't like the price of the hardware and the 3rd party support.
