You compared PS4's day 1 numbers to PS2's first 2 days, when the population disparity is just shy of 3:1.  You can compare the numbers all you like, still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.  To this day, no one has matched the PS2's first week totals, In Japan.  Outside of Japan, there are more people and arguably a larger market, so it's unsurprising to see a hyped machine with a decent price point match/exceed that.

EDIT: I guess our point is moot, and the 980K figure is incorrect anyway.

The PS2 sold 600k in two days, but Sony had orders of over 900k that they couldn't fulfill yet. So they technically sold over 900k, but shipped 600k. 

Aw that explains it. So its 630k, but it was spinned to 980k. Sony should have done that with the western launches lol. "While only a million gamers actually have a PS4, we did collect some money from unfulfilled per-orders making it effectively sell 1.3 million"

3DS, Wii U, and Vita all had numbers come out on Monday, although 3DS was really early in the day and Vita/Wii U were late at night. Unless you think PS4 flopped, they'd announce numbers before Media Create.

Damn those PS3 numbers were bad :S and the PS4 doesn't seem that much cheaper.

Oh please. People do that with every launch console except for the original Xbox, Dreamcast, N64, and SNES. Those were the only consoles with a killer app launch title that actually justified the purchase.

But what about Vita TV!  Surely that will save it.  It had a commercial with college kids and everything.

But serious question - why are all the boxes in English?  That just seems wierd.  Even in the states there are usually two languages - one English and another (Spanish in my area.)
