Forums - Sony - The Order: 1886 over 100k polygons for main characters

100k polygons are very impressive and you definitely see that. What makes it even more impressive is that cinematic graphics = gameplay graphics, and this also enables these smooth transitions between cinematics and gameplay.

Those 85k from the main character in Ryse are from cinematics which are pre-rendered. And during gameplay that number is surely not that high. Does anybody actually know what the number of polygons during gameplay is? Just curious.

I think it was in-engine as they said with the order.

Though you are right with that. However a phrase like "created in-engine" does not automatically mean that the cinematics are being rendered in real-time on your console. So there is a major difference between Ryse and The Order. While in Ryse the cinematics are just videos (and therefore have more polygons than during normal gameplay) being playbacked from the HDD, in The Order the cinematics are being rendered in real-time on the PS4. Which is quite a difference.

theyre still 25k vs 100k polys. and 2 gen difference. 12 years. 12 years before REmake we were playing Sonic1

How many polygons were on screen simultaneously in REmake? Versus how many there are in The Order 1886? How many effects? What about the lighting? Particles? Physics?

Thanks. Bye.

ok, i understand your point, you should just read the title, it clearly highligts characters poly count, which i find unimpressive

characters in REmake 2002 25k polys

characters in 1886order 2014 100k polys

characters in Sonic 1990 16x16 pixels?

Yeah, the amount of Polygons for characters Sony exclusives are going to be insane. All three exclusives are already the most beautiful I've seen this gen in terms of in-game graphics. Killzone, InFamous and The Order.

You clearly have no idea how graphics are made and what goes on on screen in modern games compared to the Gamecube era.

Always trying to twist things in favor of Nintendo somehow... Typical of you.

You say it's not impressive... So I guess Super Mario 3D World isn't impressive at all. Neither is X... They don't nearly have anywhere close to 100k+ polygons per characters.

You say it's no impressive... So I guess Super Mario 3D World isn't impressive at all, visually. Neither is X... They don't nearly have anywhere close to 100k+ polygons per characters.

you are the one that really has no idea. PS2 was a beast in poly count, which PS3 isnt. many Top PS2 games have similar poly counts than many PS3 games

the OP and title of the thread clearly highlights the characters poly count as the core of the thread.

i just pointed out that the 100k figure seemed unimpressive to due to REmake on GC having a fourth of that 12 years before

@bolded, No the characters in those games dont look impressive from a poly count perspective at all

@Bolded: Name those games with the total poly counts.

Disappointed. I expected at least 1 million polygons for the characters.

Not impressed. I might be with the overall look of the game when we see good videos, but for now all i saw was alleyways.

Also Kratos gained a hell lot of pollies from GoW3 to GoW Ascencion and hardly anyone noticed. So... number of polies means nothing. The atention goes to the animations.
