My expectations for Vita were higher honestly. At least for me PSP was a far better gaming machine than Wii was.
WiiU looked bad even when it was announced at E3 2011. Vita on the other hand looked fantastic.
In the end both consoles flopped of course.

Wii U. The sales for it don't reflect how good it is at all. It's probably the same for Vita, but I don't have one yet. I would still choose Wii U over Vita even if I had one, since I prefer Nintendo.

You can play Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4 (complete collection), 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 HD, 10-2 HD, FF Tactics, Dissidia and Dissidia 012 on a Vita.
The Vita because its hardware is brilliantly designed. Can't say the same for the wii U.
Vita and WiiU. I blame it on the names.
Vita = Life. No one wants to play the game of life.
Or the other definition: The IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). No one likes the IRS.
WiiU = Its the college of the Wii. If its the University, was the Wii Junior College? Is Nintendo telling us that we are all stupid enough to need Junior College but cant understand their University? Well, that Tablet thing still doesnt make sense to those people who are used to the WiiMote Windmill.
The Vita because it's actually a quality product. The Wii U is getting what it deserves.

Both systems had it coming. Well, maybe the Vita a bit less than the Wii U, but still, no tears shall be shed here.
I own both and to be honest, both deserve to fail. These are two titans in the history of gaming and both hoped to coast on their previous achievements. Spending 200-350 for one of these and neither getting the GAMES is such a disappointment. The console price is a down payment towards years of gaming, with the knowledge that you will be paying 40-50 more per game and to get either one of these with such a small sample of games, and so little on the horizon for both.
When I bought a NES there was enough games there to last me well into the next generation. Now looking at the Wii U, there are a handful of must haves and what's their is just rehashes of better games they already made. it's not enough to have just a Wii U or Vita for console or handheld gaming like back in the day an NES meant you didn't need a SMS, I'm a gamer so at the end of the day I'm going to pick up every console and get the best they have to offer but if I didn't buy both at less than half their retail cost I would be very pissed. I honestly don't think by the end of next year that either one of these will get full support, more than likely any games at that point were already announced and they will be shifting their attention to each's successors.
