Forums - Sony - Anyone excited for PS4's Japan Launch??

With Dynasty warriors and Yakuza surely it will get a pretty big reception, did gundam make it for launch or not?

Its smashed launch records in every other region, interesting to see if Japan will be different.

If the Japanese crowd bought into the PS4 hype/madness its gona be another record smashing crazy launch day with infinite lines on stores and all. Should be fun to watch

Hope we see this again:

I love the one guy who sees a blue box attacks it than realises its not a PS4 and proceed to run like a mad man to the PS4 section lol.

Japanese won't have this kind of reaction. They will wait in line until everyone can purchase its PS4.

nope, don't live in japan, and I already have mine.

Looking forward to seeing how it goes, but like others have said I don't think sales are going to be amazing. I think Sony should be happy with anything over 300k. Would like to be proved wrong though.

Japanese always being polite and respectful is as much of a stereotype as all americans are fat. The Japanese do have their fair share of passionate and obsessive people and might I suggest that some of the obsessive ones are the worst in the world.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

So far it seems pretty muted here in Japan. There is certainly signage in every game store. In the big Sofmap in Osaka's Den-Den Town (Akihabara of Osaka) on Saturday the biggest display out front was devoted to Project Diva for the PS3 and Vita. The PS4 display was smaller and off to the side a little.

At the Joshin PlayStation Concept store in Den-Den Town they have the only demo station of a PS4 that I have seen so far. Playable demo kiosks in stores are much rarer here. They have two demo kiosks and the larger, nicer one with a couch in front of it was still devoted to a PS3 and Vita TV set up. No one was playing either demo.

Most stores are still taking preorders and are advertising that units will be available at 7:00am on 2/22.

Launches are always exciting, so I plan on heading out on Saturday to check out the scene. The Japanese are also notoriously difficult to anticipate, so exciting times are ahead either way! I think the biggest potential downfall is that the launch lineup is very Western-centric. The preorder displays feature the two Japanese titles front and center, but there is no denying that there really isn't a big Japanese title at launch.

Such a mythical event this, no one knows where it will end up. It could be really good and it could be rather bad, the Japanese market has become highly volatile since 2005 for home consoles. Personally; I think we'll see a very good first week followed by very sharp drops and then near obscurity after 6-7 weeks, like most other consoles over there.

OF COURSE!!!

What.....? is that a Starbucks Coffee I see in the background? I thought American products don't do well in Japan? So that means the PlayStation will do well. Okay.
