Forums - Nintendo - Why I Support Nintendo!

I don't support Nintendo because it's unfair of them to tax gamers to play their games. 350 dollars plus 60 to play Mario? No thanks. Especially since the Wii U is basically only receiving games from Nintendo first party studios.

The fact that there is virtually 0 third party support = tax on other gamers.

Even though I have always supported Nintendo, you still manage to bring up points that I had never thought about. Nicely done.

How dare Nintendo do something that governments force on people. Those bastards!!

The reason I don't support Nintendo is that they do not, or at least have not recently, make games that I like to play. And honestly, the way they conduct business is neither praiseworthy nor effective enough for me to cut them any slack.

Nintendo's present problems are a result of their inability to read the current market, their ignorance of current industry development, and their unwillingness to be proactive about it. There's nothing endearing about that.

Nintendos problem is that they try to read the market and are stuck betweeen OLD and NEW (the market is not a gaming market at all but a mainstream market. Its actually everyones problem because todays market with focus on mainstreamers destroys the whole industry)

Nintendo tries to appeal to mainstreamers by streamlining their gamess (MetroidPrime3 and SkywardSword  come to mind with their "chose your level instead of explore a connected world" shit
Also the "lazy level lines" in Galaxy2  because mainstreamers appearantly lack the IQ to FIND the next level on their own..... sad sad)

Luigis Mansion DarkMoon also lacks alot of exploration because its several levels instead of a mansion with different areas (sure its because of the short burst gaming on handhelds but they could still have made gameplay with checkpoints or at least dont force a break with the shitty  MISSIONS that show stupid statistics etc  (it destroys the gameflow like in Bayonetta)

They made  non-nintendo crap like a shitty score system that actually feels like  WORK...  (I dont play games to work...)
"it took you 10 minutes instead of 8 to complete this mansion. We have to penalize you because you wasted time by exploring the level and enjoying the art-style etc and little details. Here you have this nonsensical digital bullshit bronce medal that does not have a single purpose other than please your stoneage mentality"

If they would make me unlock stuff like in Smash or by 100% the mansion (without a score being changed due to TIME!) It woulld actually be great  but I want to play my games with my pace. Not with some arbitrary time-limit.

At least make this SCORE shit optional so its deactivated by default and you get asked wheter or not you want it. (like with difficulties before you start games) or make the first playthrough normal and make the second one the "score system playthrough" or whatever.

Not only Nintendo is failing with abandoning old and trying to please mainstreamers  even other devs do.  Alot of games fail because the fans get a disappointment when they play the streamlined game and the mainstreamers still dont care about it for them the games are still to niche and they just care when there is explosions/sports or when they've been successfully fooled by a multimillion dollar marketing campaign for the game.
Developers dont understand that there is gamers and mainstreamers and that gamers=/=mainstramers (the COD devs do understand that thats why they also said that COD players are not gamers for the most part).

Their fanbase might not have increased during the last 10 years but since the last gen was full of dudebros and mainstreamers they thought it did and so they expected better sales and failed.

I wish Nintendo (actually everyone especially western devs) would forget about the mainstreamers and care about people that want to play real games (you know like DarkSouls etc)
I wish Nintendo would never leave their Nintendo bubble because everytime they try even if its a little bit  IT has a huge impact on the quality of their games.

I support Nintendo cos of a fond child hood playing there games, but they do need to step it up, i still cant bring myself to get a Wii U. Come on Ninty Innovate the games not the hardware.

I support because the games are still good, and i still like to play.
the quality of the games didnt decrease.

Is very simple.

I support them because they make the best videogames.

That was a pretty good read and I agree with most of what you said (if not all)...

Basically, when Nintendo does whatever the hell they want they are at their best...so many people try to tell them what is right for the company or what they should do but the second they start bowing to anyone, they will lose part of what makes them special. Too many people agree with the "customer is always right" philosophy but I'd say that that isn't always the case.

Also, I've spoken about my fear of Iwata's successor a few times. While Iwata is far from perfect in the way he leads the company, he upholds Nintendo's core values through thick and thin.

I am finding that my show takes up so much of my time that I may not be able to participate as actively as I'd like to in my threads anymore, but I will continue to share my thoughts through blogs and videos with the community!

Having said that, I understand that we have different perspectives and opinions on the matter, but I'm not afraid to let people take stabs at me for my opinions. Which is also why I have a show and will occasionally write blogs all around the Wii U, because I think the Wii U is being unfairly stabbed by the media and "hardcore gamers". I'll gladly divert some of the blows to myself, because I know I can handle them
