Forums - Movies & TV - robocop remake worth it???

I just got back from the movie. I liked the costume and samuel l jackson's part. I liked it when they showed just his head and flesh. that part was pretty cool, but everything else was so damned toned done and vanilla. It had 10 times the budget, with 10 times less heart and soul. Let's spend the first half showing how he became robocop and the whole family conflict, but rush through him solving his own murder and the obvious company corruption. I thought the movie was going to have alot of action, but it really did'nt and what it had,was pretty toned down and boring. I also thought the actor playing robocop was a bore and had no personality. So,while the movie had a couple of cool moments,I'd just rather watch my copy of the orginal on blu-ray.

This is probably going to go over as well as the Total Recall remake... meaning it will be forgotten about.

Here's something to remember the good times by and perhaps "whet" your appetite for the (eventual panning of) Robocop remake...

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I just gave my thoughts on the movie. I might stick in the orginal,to forget about what I just saw. hahaha.

^^^ Ah, i saw that just as I was posting. Watch the video I posted anyway it'll make you feel a bit better, and then remember to watch their next episode in the coming week where they're actually going to "review" the new Robocop film, and probably rip it a new one lol.

No, it's not. I'm 34, so when I was a kid, all of these "remakes" were actually coming out as new and fresh experiences. I feel sorry for kids these days because most of their stuff is just copying older stuff. They don't have much that they can call their own.

As far as creativity and originality, from late 70's to the early 90's was probably the best era we have ever seen. Star Wars, E.T., Indiana Jones, The Goonies, Breakfast Club,Nightmare On Elm Street, Halloween, Jaws, T2, Blues Brothers, Friday the 13th, Tron, Jurassic Park, Silence Of The Lambs, Burton's Batman, Superman....the fucking list could go on forever.

Same age, and completely agree.

The sad part is, the remake actually followed the short story.  It was no cinematic marvel or anything, but at least it had that going for it.

I'll be 34 in a few months and I agree with everything you said.

Its a remake. Therefore not worth watching. Avoid!

it's 12s.... there is no gritty shoot up by Red Foreman scene... did I mention it's 12s? If you liked the original just go rewatch that instead lol, it's up on netflix now and it's still glorious 18s :D old ED209s stop motion is a bit wank tho.

I own the orginal on blue-ray.

The remake will make you mad more than anything else really then, I don't know how to explain just how stupid some portions of it are, maybe the easiest way is just to describe how he ends up being a candidate for being made into Robocop is....

A car bomb which blows up in his face only leaving his face perfectly unscared.

Really if you love the old you will hate the remake.

That was shown in like the first trailer, I think.  What I want to know is why he has a human hand.  Seems like it would be a weakness.  If he had to lift a car or something wouldn't the human hand just break off?  Probably still good for spanking it, though....

Even a cyborg needs to jerk off and thats not possible with a cold metal hand.
