Its the gamepad... It has too many things on it... Theres a webcam, wii mote motion sensor built around the camera, IR blaster, NFC, headphone/headset jack, stereo speakers, accelerometer, gyroscope as well as that 0 latency receiver/sender thing, touchpad and controller functionality... You can kinda see why its so expensive, the gamepad does too much shit and people are not seeing the value of it since most of that is not necessary for most of the games

And on top of that, there is also the console itself and I bet its that 0 latency technology that they partnered with broadcom to make is costing a lot cause it really is amazing when you compare it to just wifi... When you take Nvidia shield with a wireless AC router with 1gbps+ vs the wiiU gamepad, the wiiU gamepad still has lower latency

the low latency tech is realy nice, and thats a good idea where the costs come from. the rest of the gamepad isnt expensive. it can do many things, but the most parts are realy cheap. and the screen is the cheapest screen tech u can get.

I suspect that part of it is because the rising development costs that they practically avoided with the Wii have caught up to them with the Wii U, which means they have to sell more of each game to break even, compared to what they had to sell on the Wii.

I don't know. I'll pull something out of my ass.

--Let's say you make a pie and you want to sell it. You make 100 pies and it costs you one dollar to make each pie. You want to sell them for $2 each. If you sell them all, you'll make $200. Unfortunately, nobody wants your pies because they want cake. You only sell 10 pies. Now, instead of making the $200 you thought you'd make, you only made $20. Meanwhile 90 pies are still on the shelf just wasting away and you'll be lucky if you can even make your money back when you sell them for a discounted price.

TLDR: Nintendo fucked up. Sony and Microsoft are selling cake and that's what the public wants.

Mmmmm, pie.

Mmmmmmm, Nintendo pie.

to sell at loss is always a bad idea =/

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

To make money off WiiUs you have to sell WiiUs.
