Forums - Nintendo - Rate this Nintendo direct- the worst direct of all time- I wasted 300 dollars on a Wii u for this? Are they playing dumb or just being stubborn?

5 from 10.

Simply because Nintendo broke the mold and delivered more than they said they would.

They said it would be about spring but showed some Bayonetta 2 (summer Japan - God knows when in the west) and X (probably 2016).

Around the Network

7/10 I think it was a decent Direct because they showed some gameplay footage of X but I would have preferred an story trailer and the official name.

With all those game droughts the WiiU is having I'm not convinced at all to buy it in the short term, maybe I'll wait until it's cheaper, like 150 dollars or something like that and I have the feeling that X could move to 2015 since they didn't say "Available in 2014" like they did with Bayo2 and Smash Bros.

+ Little Mac
+ X gameplay
+ INSANE Bayonetta 2 trailer

- No game after DK until June (May 30 might as well be in June)
- Too much 3ds talk
- Only one Wii U release date
- No Yarn Yoshi
- No SMTxFE

Overall 5/10

7/10, but 3/10 excluding Mario Kart.

The Baseball shop game was VERY BAD. It looked like phone F2P microtransaction rubbish. The minigames were expensive and low quality, and the gambling your time for possible money savings was pathetic.

Nintendo are lowering their quality standards for quick cash, very disappointing.

People are asking for the localization of that for months now...

some of you put way too much faith in these directs. Dont know why anyone was expecting anything new per se

oh and MK8 releasing on May 30th...might as well be June

Around the Network

Quite meh, but its focus was the spring which is right around the corner. Hopefully summer will bring a host of shocking and exciting announcements. I think they have began throwing money at the wii u but we will not see the results of this until 2015.

I really liked, don't get all this rage.

yeah..., that's it, more or less.

They showed plenty of good stuff, particularly for 3DS. Every Wii U retail game they showed is a guaranteed purchase for me. The problem is, these are the same games they've been talking about for months. Since E3, the only new Wii U retail title to be announced is Hyrule Warriors. Kart 8 coming at the end of May means another software drought. Smash, X, Bayonetta 2 still have the vague "2014" release date. Even Wii U's digital offerings are lackluster in comparison to 3DS. Three GBA games? A NES Remix sequel, and one multi-format digital title?

3DS, software wise, has a good line up. The complete lack of aggression or purpose with Wii U is embarrassing, though. I loved what they did show for Wii U, but I knew months ago that if I bought a Wii U, I'd be buying Smash, Kart, X, Bayonetta 2. What else is there, Nintendo?

I'd say 6/10

Missing release info for Bayo and X
Should have had some news on Sonic Boom (even just repeating the trailer with some info)
A new title would've been nice, but not obligatory
Too much 3DS

Be interesting to see what if we get one in March, and what comes out of it. I basically think we won't get another Direct until late April (to hype Mario Kart), and that's where they'll blow the lid off summer/winter release schedule.

I think we can see that, as far as the Wii U is concerned, their tactic is to essentially write off 2013 financial year, and concentrate on 2014. Start with Mario Kart, then Bayonetta, then X, Smash, and unannounced games going into Autumn then Winter.
