It's kind of ridiculous how far off VGC was with the Wii U. I can understand a difference, but this is pretty large.

It's also kind of ridiculous how bad the Wii U did...

I really wasn't expecting these figure. Not this soon, at least.

Is a bit shocking how far off VGC is, definitely. Then again, I haven't been around long enough to know if this is typical for after the holidays.

I don't think VGC was this far off last year for NPD's January report, although I can't remember all that well. (There's links in the OP, if you want to check.) Edit: Seems as though VGC had it at 79k and NPD had it at ~50k. So they were quite off there as well.

I was definitely expecting a YoY increase, but it seems the tides are against Nintendo.

Went and checked. Actually, the situation with the Wii U is similar to last year, but more so. From 79 to 57 last year, and 86 to 49 this year.

What's actually a bit more shocking to me, now that I think about it, si the 3DS, 360, and X1 difference...

As far as Nintendo goes, if something doesn't change drastically, I think they're in for a rough year.

I just notice there isn't a single usual xbox fan in this thread, that's really weird since they use to dominate very npd threads, are they all banned?

Some are banned, but most seem to be avoiding this thread. I wonder why...

hmm, I'm sometimes classified as a Xbox fan and I posted ;) .

But actually most xbox fans would be really dissapointed that not only the X1;s sales were bad but also the 360's and both consoles were beat by PS consoles this month so that makes it twice as worst as I suppose.

Anyone knows how did Vita perform ? I know it'll sell poor, but I just wish it isn't overtracked by VGC cause it's already abysmal.
Poor WiiU too, 3DS is shocking to me too, down YOY, who would expect it with Pokemon now out.

Under 17k, Vgchartz has it spot on.

The 3DS difference is probably more stunning than the Wii U one. I had a feeling both were overtracked though.

What surprises me the most is that the sony consoles were pretty much spot on with every other console being far off

Despite the fact that the industry is in a massive decline the PS4 is pulling off very decent numbers.

Xbox One a bit diving from #15 to #25 on Amazon US. Is the anti-hype of poor sales in January having a further negative effect?

My 8th gen collection

The Wii U and 3DS numbers really aren't that shocking. In January Pokemon had already been out for 3 months and Zelda had already been out for 5 weeks. For Wii U SM3DW had been out for 5 weeks and nothing else had been released since September when Wind Waker HD came out. The software is really weak.

Same goes for Xbox One and PS4. The entire lineups are 90 percent games that you can get on the older consoles and a couple of exclusives. The exclusives were nearly all sequels of things that never sell crazy numbers (Killzone/Dead Rising) and the new IP's got crappy reviews. PS4 is doing solid, but if Sony is really hurting itself by not having more supply. They need to take advantage of the fact that Wii U and Xbox One are struggling and pump their sales up because once heavy hitters like Titanfall, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Halo come out, PS4 could easily become forgotten about.
