So, this practically confirms Mario Kart will be the next big game for Wii U after DKTF.

My point was to be "focused" on something doesn't mean it won't mention anything else outside of that time frame.

Oh well, that´s true.

Why would they focus on games after spring? This Direct will probably give new trailers and release dates for all games coming before E3. At E3 they will focus on games coming in the second half of the year and announce some games for 2015.

No... the "focus" is on games in Spring. But they always pitch something for future too.

By the end of Spring does not mean at the end of Spring. It just means they will focus on games releasing between now and the end of Spring (mid/late June) or basically games releasing before E3.

"focussing" is the keyword here, it means we will get more than just spring games infos. Also PG retweeted twice and Soraya also did, the only time that happened in the past was also when we got new trailer of X and Bayo2. So get hyped :)
