I think you're being a bit liberal with the baseline being "about double" what it was last year.  According to Year on Year data the WiiU is doing about the same or worse than it did last year for January and the last week we have was a jump from 33,000 to 42,000 which is a far cry off from double.  What are you basing this claim off of?

I believe it can double if not more.
This year, the games releasing are actually for a market that knows what Wii U is.

Last year you had some minor games, a port of WW and Mario 3D World.
This year you will have DK, Mario Kart 8 and Smash. Plus, Bayonetta 2, X, Hyrule Warriors and other surprises!

I think I was thinking of the summer months when it was in the low 20 thousands and got it mixed up with January.    Still think it will sell comfortably over double last year though .

It's not double, but it is up measurably, at +15% for January.

Mario Kart is a huge game and so is Smash. What I worry about is the gaps. What is there between February (DKC) and May (Mario Kart, assuming no more delays)? I'm not sure there will be any retail games during that time, unless there is a surprise from Nintendo.

It's not double, but it is up measurably, at +15% for January. 

Yeah the year on year charts for WiiU seem to have not been updated on VGC for a few weeks as Jan2014 is way behind Jan2013 so far which is what I was basing that off of but I found EyeofCore's thread and it's about 15% increase.  Going to have to start doing far better to get up to double or even triple as some are suggesting.

Yeah, I think you are right. But it is easy to do it better than last year because last year was... ahh you know^^
