Problem with amazon in Japan is we seen things "sell out" and mean nothing. Vita tv ... Vita... Wiiu ....

This might be true.

 

I originally expected PS4 to sell like 150-250k 1st week in japan but after seeing the American and Europe launch, i'm sure it should be higher.

 

So this article was from 2 days ago and this new batch has just been sold out right? Hmm

 

I guess it might actually be able to beat the Wii U in japan(306k launch week)

 

I expect PS4 to sell no more than 400k launch week

Apparently the amount of stock at launch are low and the goal is to sell 500K end March. It's weak but he said people will wait for better games.

I have a feeling it's going to be like the PS3 with the first two years not great.

Only 300k is hard to believe, i would like to know his source, it's just rumor + his opinion. ( like some journalists who thoughtPS4/X1 wouldnt do better than Wii U)

This article is the opposite of what my Japanese's friends are saying to me... the hype for this new console is monstrous.

But Sony will have supply issue there.

Op is trying to make it seem there is this crazy demand based on amazon. My point is amazon can't be used to judge demand. My point was on topic.

The purpose of ads are to create demand for a product. There is little purpose to paying for adds when you cannot meet demand. My bet is they start buy adds around the same time there are news stories about it being sold out everywhere, that creates more of a fury. Remember in cmas 07 when Nintendo did not run ANY Wii adds (they did run adds for specific games) thats because all Wiis were selling out within seconds.



End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

I read an article where Sony Japan president said anyone who preorders before 2014 will get the console on day one but after it was not guaranteed.
