The PS1 generally did have better audio. As for the rest of the post...well, it's Skeeuk. |
64 actually had the better audio chip, though, it just didn't had better "audio" thanks to the lack of capacity on cartridges.

lol fraid not. Perfect Dark for N64 was among the best the console could do. Don;t know what game you are thinking of, cause it required the expansion pack to even function. |
It required the expansion pak it to play single player, play four player multiplayer, save your characters stats(hit%, kills, deaths, etc,) and a slight increase to textures. If you wanted to do challenges and play two player multiplayer with bots, then you could still do so.
Just clearing that up, because if the expansion pack was required to function, then you wouldn't be able to play anything. You're just limited to what you can play.

Well thats kinda beside the point. It required the pack to get the most out of the game. And its a game that no PS1 title could match graphically. Still chuckle at RE1 PS1 character models with their "box butts" ;P
The N64 bested the PS1 pretty handily at creating convincing 3D; its Z-buffer was a big advantage. It also had a much stronger CPU, better mip mappping and better anti-aliasing. Regarding polys, the N64 was also much better in real world performance.
You could say that you prefer the advantages that the CD format provided for the PS1, but as far as power the N64 had it beat.

Just incase you missed my post a few pages back. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6036204
A better looking game would be Resident Evil 3. Character models look just as good, one of the few PSX games that do, and while the graphics are prerendered, you use the console to the best of its ability right? If the PSX can push better graphics by using prerendered 3D, then it's still got better graphics.
Or Tekken 3. Smaller environments but still a better looking game with better looking character models.

Ya it did prerendered games and small spaces good enough. It certainly couldn't do open games graphically like Banjo, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc.
N64
and those complaining about cartriges how many of yours are still working compared to your PS1 games?

Hold on. Didnt N64 have exactly the same capacity as CD? It was the first ever cartridge to have 64 channels for Sound. Same as CD.

But those games still looked nowhere near the level Perfect Dark put out. It had multiple realtime light sources. And HUGE 3d levels for its time. There was many others that blew PSX visuals away. Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Rogue Squadron Rogue Leader to name some quickfire games PSX couldnt remotely touch visually.
