Forums - Nintendo - Is the talk of a new Nintendo console off putting?

Sooooo serious console war question:

1. Would this new console still be part of the Xbox 1/PS4 generation and therefore would have to start from sales scratch? Cause that would suck for Nintendo fans.....literally launching into last place twice in one gen.

2. It is next gen and therefore gets a head start on PS5/Xbox 4?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

well if you want to be insecure about some rumors then it is your choice. Life is t short to as what if.

If you want to play games that are on a system then just do it.

Insecure? It's called dedecutive reasoning, smartass. Why do you think people can paid to do it? But I guess life is too short to make rational decisions...

What deductive reasoning? its all spin from websites. He was talking about the succesor to 3DS and how in the future it needs to become more a brother to the console. Is that news going to put you off buying a 3DS?

All you should really care about is, does this system have enough good games to warrant me buying it. It is that simple. Don't let sites looking for clicks dictate your decisions.

Hell look at the dreamcast, it sold so poorly and didn't last that long yet there is enough good games on the system to wrrant a purchase. DOes it mattr if it had a short like if you got to play your favourite games that would overwise not exist on any other system?

I have a WiiU, so it's not I would have a choice if they were to release a successor tomorrow, but I personally find it exciting. It's exciting to think about what's going to happen in the future. Nice to know there is a future to look forward to.

The console specs and the lack of third party are off putting, now hearing their planning on a new console already pretty much nailed the last bolt on the coffin for me, this will be the first Nintendo console I might never own in the future

I can tell you now that Sony is highly likely to also already be brainstorming about the PS5, right now.

Guess we'll just have to trade in that PS4 now, there's going to be something that's newer soon. As soon as one product is done and released, they move on to the next. Things take time to be developed, nobody's going to take a four year vacation.

What new console is Nintendo talking about? I can find no info on this.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

To my knowledge, they've only confirmed a third pillar (QOL) and a 3DS successor.

It's not off-putting, no. Iwata has confirmed that he wants to increase the value of the Gamepad, he also insists that they aren't giving up on the Wii U. Unless he is flat out lying, which, considering the game line-up, seems unlikely, then there's nothing to worry about at this time. Even if they did announce plans of a new console, why would that worry you?

Considering what a piece of shit the Wii U is for the price, I'm actually somewhat excited.

That said, it'd still make me a little weary to buy their new console until at least 3 years in. Business wise, it might be smarter to keep quiet.

Yes, because you can totally, rationally judge a system to be a "piece of shit" after one year on the fucking market, long before it's best games inevitably come out.

Kudos.

You moron. The Wii U, the hardware. Not the library.

Hi guys! Long time lurker, first time poster. I love the community here (even if it gets a little.... Heated) it's the first time I've wanted to join in on the VIDEOGAME banter. I hope I can be a positive addition to this fun community of passionate gamers!
Anyway, I love my wiiu, I primarily played x360 in the 7th gen, got into the ps3 late (loved the last of us!), got a ps4, avoided the x1, mostly because MS turned me off with their early choices...
But again, I love my wiiu. I don't mind it being underpowered, I actually enjoy the games that are on it, and am looking very forward to the ones coming.
Having said that, I think it would be a big mistake for Nintendo to replace the wiiu early. They need to ride out this storm, for nothing less than consumer confidence. If they dump it early, no one will trust them again. I won't. They need to try to get this thing to survive at least 3 1/2-4 years....

Its very worrying for me for me.

Will be my first home console ever. Will suck the saving for ~ 2 years. Its not something that will be used for 3 months and worth it. Will have to justify much more than that. I dunno, every day i think on use the money to up my PC, but most the franchises i care are on nintendo consoles. If i buy and a month after it gets a price cut? Or every game get canned? I want to be sure that will not be money wasted. My nitendo DS still is worth to this day, but with wiiu i just can't be that sure.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Yeah I agree with you they do have to ride it out regardless of less than expected sales.

I personally  really wish N would go after Minecraft for the Wii U and GTA5. They need a Pokemon as well. I also think they should just get their whole original Wii library on the VC digitally with extremely competetive pricing like 9.99-14.99 per title maybe 5.99-7.99 for the lesser popular/less high rated titles, and port all their current popular DS/3DS titles to the VC as well the tablet with TV should accomadate that I imagine.

They just need games that have more appeal imho, and since they shunned next gen 3rd party dev's with the Wii U's design they will have to pull graphically less demanding titles (minecraft) and past titles to draw people to the console in the meantime. But that's my personal opinion and I might be way off on what will work for them. Maybe they can't port them who knows.

This is what they doin lately though lmao http://youtu.be/v4l72lrxG8E?t=1m17s

Minecraft on wiiu might even get me on that! I can't get into it on my phone, but using the wiiu pad on the big screen might change that. I'm surprised it's not on wiiu, to be honest.
