Hmm, nobody questions whether it works. The question is *how good* it will work. The video doesn't provide any info on input lag and bandwidt and latency his internet access has.

From the guy.

"Actually was able to play Dead or Alive 5 online versus some guy in France.

My damned router decided to switch itself from nat2 to nat3 by itself after I had to get a new modem. So while even though the video quality did degrade...it did not interrupt his ass-kicking of me (lol been awhile, shaking off the rust)

Controller responsiveness is just simply astounding. Even with my crappy internet both on doa5 and ninja gaiden 3 I ran into one short pause each on the game then right back to the action."

You will be surprise how good it is working.

I will wait for actual footage where we see the controller people are using and then see when the input reacts.

I will believe tech analysis more than this guy, really. And what the hell means "nat2" and "nat3"? Seems he has no idea what he is talking about.

Edit: Aww the video is gone

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Well that video didn't last long, at least we got to see that it is working. Really hope i can get an invite but I believe they're only sending them out to people in populated cities. Might not get one given that I live in Texas.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I do networking and NAT for about 8 years now, I still don't know what they mean with these 3 different types. And I never came across these types in Germany.

Generally NAT is NAT. If you opnen ports, it is still NAT. Static NAT just translates your WAN-IP directly to one LAN-IP, which is somehow different to usual NAT, yes. But it is still NAT. Translating internal IPs to your WAN-IP via translation table.

I think noone doubted it to generally work in some way.

NAT is NAT... the numbers PS3 uses to says the status of your connection.

NAT-1 = Direct Access to internet (no router)... no issue.
NAT-2 = Using a router... no issue.
NAT-3 = Problem with the access to internet (possible some ports blocked)

Just that.

He are saying that even his router blocking the PS3 to access the internet the PlayStation Now worked fine... to be fair the PS Now didn't need opened ports at all because you will only receive the stream video from server and send command inputs... so it is not like a MP game you need other guy to connect in your console to works... so he can have issues with MP in his PS3 in NAT-3 but I don't see issue with PS Now that works like Netflix for example.

The Remote feature on PS4 didn't works in NAT-3... my Smartphone can't control it when it have the NAT-3 status.

they removed it. lol

So NAT-1 is not NAT at all ;) Or do you mean DMZ? And even this is not NAT...

NAT-2 is no issue?! By default all ports are blocked on a NAT-Router from WAN-side, so no translation from outside to inside ports (intended ports, that is). This should be the default config (unless it also does UPnP...).

NAT-3? This is the default - of course ports are blocked by default, one has to manually configure them, if the service tells you which you should open.

Nat type 1 open
nat 2 slightly restricted, online game suffer in this type.
nat 3 fully restricted online games wont work well or at all.
