I'm just curious about the power of peer pressure over an extent of time.

For example, my older brother got a N64 because his friends had it. I grew to love it and got the GameCube alongside my friends. I ended up convincing my friends to get a Wii, but they ended up also getting 360's, and eventually Xbox Ones. I stuck with Nintendo afterwards, but we play at each other's places enjoying the variety of games each console offers.

In Cross Country, however, I got a lot of flack for playing Nintendo consoles. It annoyed me, but it didn't deter me from playing Nintendo. It did deter others who wanted to avoid being made fun of, however.

What were your experiences like at school/workforce with the console wars.

When I was a kid, I was originally going to get the Xbox but then the other kids convinced me to get the Gamecube instead, that's the only time I can remember.

I buy whatever system I like

I buy the consoles/games that I like regardless of what my friends or the industry embrace.

During the 6th gen the PS2 was the darling of the industry. Almost everyone I knew who liked games had one. I, on the other hand, was perfectly content with the 'Cube.

No, most of my friends aren't really big gamers. They were fine playing Madden on the PS2 until about a year ago where one of my friends bought a PS3 (which pretty much only gets used for 2K Basketball). I have a Wii/3DS/PS3 and I play almost everything except sports games.

We do play Smash Bros a lot and I had a surprisingly great time playing some NSMBwii with my friends the other day so its not like we have really different tastes, I just like gaming a lot more @.@

I've never taken what my friends have into consideration when buying a console.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

Everyone I knew and their mother had a Ps3. I have a 360

I usually buy the console none/few of my friends have - N64, first Xbox,360. On the bright side, they come over to play much more often since they can't play some of those games at on their consoles. :D

Just out of curiosity, does that ever come up in conversation? How do you usually respond?

"Wright, Fifa is also on the 360?"

"Why, yes."

"Why don't you purchase it? The last entry is awesome!"

"Come to think of it, you guys have all ps3. Why don't you purchase Tales of Xillia? Awesome game!"

"WE BUY NO JAPANESE CRAP".

"Okay guys..."
