They don't count towards the winning of a generation that has passed.

And who has decided that rule, that after a certain point no further hardware or software sales of a console count anymore?

The United Nations Organization? The Guinness Book? The Mighty Gods of VGC? You? Was it a proclaimed agreement of all console manufacturers? Was it even a question in former generations when the gaps were uncatchable?

Nintendo onwers decided so wii could win this gen, but ignore it so snes can beat genesis (after ps1 being launched).

actually a console selling strong after launch of newer ones is proof of dominance and relevance. I bet Nintendo isn't happy about "winning" gen 7 while vanishing mis-gen

It's common sense. You can't win a race after the baton's been passed.

No, it's not. If it were common sense, that "the race is over" and further sales mean nothing, then why are these consoles been sold for another few years, produce further revenue and profit and strenghthen the perceived value of these consoles and their portfolio?

The race-analogy is your own mantra you are repeating over and over again, nothing more.

You can't "win" a generation if during that generation you were consistently behind, and only crawled ahead years after a new generation began.

Rockstar team- Ok guys, lets cancel GTAVI for ps4 and x1 cuz wii u made the biggest leap :P

And you can't win a gen while being outsold by the last place during the whole last half and after next gen start.

Yes you can. Once the race is over, whatever you do doesn't matter.

Your race-mantra over and over again with no new arguments, which support your claim that it is a race with a clear-cut end and that it always has been that way.

So where is your precedent? Which former console or handheld is predominantly seen as the "winner" of its generation, but had only the most sold units up to a certain point? Which former "winner" was overtaken after the start of the next generation, but everybody agrees, that it didn't count anymore?

So the race was over 2010-2011? nintendo forgot to tell the competitors the race was over?

And my Other post about gen and leap got ignored for reasons?

Graphically it's a bigger leap over Wii than PS4/Xbone are over PS3/360, yes.

Yet the gap between U and PS4 is similar to the gap between Wii and PS3...

Actually it isn't.

Two huge factors, SD to HD, and programmable shaders, separated Wii and PS3. There are no such fundamental divides between Wii U and PS4.

Actually, the gap between the GPU, CPU, RAM and almost everything else is much much bigger. Nintendo really outdid themselves this time, and whats amazing is that they are the only ones losing money per console sold.

Not true; Wii had a fixed function, 480p limited GPU compared to PS3's HD-ready programmable shader GPU.

Wii U and PS4 are both HD, both use programmable shaders. The fundamental divide of last gen just isn't there.

HD resolution output doesnt really count as processing power spec such as Tflops for example. And given how most U games are 720p where almost all PS4 games are 1080p, the 50% difference in pixels is still there. (720p vs 480p)

The gap in actuall spec raw power and memory is bigger than ever

The race is over now.

What other post?
