Forums - Gaming - Why Frame Rates and Resolution Shouldn’t Matter to Gamers

It most certainly matters but I do agree the rhetoric can and does get pretty nasty.

Typical media, feed the flames with one hand, complain about it with the other.

As to me, the framerate is the most important part of video games. Try playing some games at 60 fps then going back to the pal version of Ocarina of time ( 18 fps ).

It matters... A LOT!

As for resolution... meh don't care that much. I'm fine when modern games are running at 720p.

It depends on the game what is most important, but it sure is nice to play without any screen tearing and native 1080p on a projector. I'm actually not that impressed with Tombraider on ps4 so far, probably more to do with that I was drooling at a 4K 65" tv earlier that day with Project Cars 4K footage. Ugh that's beautiful.

Frame Rate is very important as it directly influences how a game plays. There a reason games like Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA and pretty much any arcade game worth its salt ran at 60fps even when they were barely textures polygons.

Frame rate and resolution don't matter.

Let's all just not buy next gen consoles then and just stick to our PS3 and/or 360? They do 720p/30fps just fine.

I hate articles like this. Yeah, I shouldn't care that I am updating my gaming hardware and expect it to be far greater than what I already had in my home.

When I buy a new console I shouldn't care about which console my $400-$500 is going and which I find to be better bang for my buck.

Nothing worse than people telling you how you should think.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

after you stay tunned on the game, it doesnt matter.
I was playing zelda SS in a HD tv, the initial thoughts was that it was awful.
But in the miidle of the game, i even noticed that was awful...

So, it matter only for the initial impression.

People were always dickheads, you just weren't noticing it back then. The internet magnifies it by at least 10x :)

Since PS4 games have better framerates and resolutions they suddenly stopped mattering. Last gen you would constantly hear a game was performing better on Xbox 360 so who needs a PS3, unless it's for Bluray. Oh well i want a console for games.

Now the X1 and PS4 have switched places and those yelling the loudest have followed it seems.

Agree: Fuck resolution, i prefer dedicated servers for every game (Xbox One)
