Im guessing you didn't actually play Ryse. Hell 5 seconds into the game there are guys all over the screen with a massive battle unfolding. Explosions, debris and fire all over the damn place. |
I've only played about an hour of Ryse, but seen a lot of footage from back when it interested me slightly.
The scale in Ryse is an illusion. It's a lot easier to make a large scale battle when the player is secluded from the majority of it (its the same method of scale used in the God of War games). When you confine the player to specific areas (like the bridge in Ryse) you can spend more time, money and console resources on making it look good. Killzone on the other hand has slightly less detailed environments around the player, instead favoring larger intractable areas, a higher resolutions and a higher frame rate.
I'm not saying either is a better method, just very different. Two games that priorities completely different things are very hard to compare. The fact they also use a different camera and completely different art styles just makes the comparison even worse xD
I'll be interesting to compare the next Uncharted to Ryse. Same camera angle and similar methods of visual prioritizing.
