Forums - Sales - Insider: PS4/Xbox One WW Margin To Be Huge In March

Is this going to be a monthly thing like ethomaz's "I think PS4 will win (insert month here) NPD!" threads? Where you post some stuff and if it turns out to be wrong, just recycle it next month until eventually you're right? mortimer said MS would have a bad December NPD and IIRC they outsold the PS4. Not only did he ignore his own comments after NPD came out, he even belittled posters on GAF for talking about it because the Xbox One winning December was such "an obvious outcome" that everyone should have seen it coming. Except him earlier in the month, apparently. Why would anyone give his insight into sales the time of day? He's full of rich, creamy, shit.

Anyways regarding a huge disparity after the Japan launch? Does it mean Xbone gets no Titanfall? No? Then I'm leaving the thread not giving an f.

link to when he said they would have a bad december. Should be easy to find. I remember him saying they would have a better than expected one. and CBOAT was wrong

I will help a little. Famousmoretime is just repeating himself.

"It kinda sucks for other countries as a lot of places aren't expecting their next PS4 shipment until the end of january. But demand in the US is higher than Sony projected. So that's where they are going now that they are done rolling out in other countries (mid east/asia was this week... no new regions, I believe, until japan)."

Shipments.

Asia is getting 500k for their launch this week. They will sell out there. They would also sell out here. Sony clearly is going for the jugular in the rest of the world and it seems clear to me that MS cares about the US and UK and that's about it. Because they want to sell services and people will buy NFL in the US... they won't in Taiwan.

But then...

K is shadow fall.

Knack didn't break 100k (at retail...). Is selling better than internal expectations.

Ps4 was about 200k over xb1. Barely moved 100k the rest of the month after launch. Sacrificing huge NA lead for huge WW lead. Xb1 will win December in NA.

Vita over 2 mil in US and Sony has absolutely no plans on abandoning it. The numbers are fukking awful though. Expect a price drop with the new model before spring. Vita tv will make it here as well, possibly through online vendors only. Working all that out.

232k for wii u. It needs to find a cheap niche... I think hd remakes is the way to go - cheap to make, don't need large install base to turn profit.

Nothing is dead yet. Hyperbole explosion. This is neogaf forum dot gif file extension.

MS sold less than 3m in 2013... MS itself confirmed they had ~1m on shelves.

Sony is selling everything they shipped in January and the gap will grow... after Japan launch de gap will be close to 3 million.

The demand for both is like water to wine... differents categories.

So, Sony shipped 4,2mi last year... hunn.

Than, what happened to you saying "Sony is producing way more thand Microsoft"?

Is 10% suficient to be considered "way more"?

PS: Please, provide evidence MS itself fonfirmed they had 1mi on shelves.

Edit: Ah, http://www.zoolert.com/instock-history.php?p=ps4&pn=PlayStation+4+%28PS4%29 a whole week worth stock

What heppened to those lines at BestBuy?

+

Yep, different categories.

Those lines at best buy are still going, and I would know, since I get a lot of info from a big best buy.. Also the ps4 is completely sold out on amazon

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

February yes, absolutely.

March? Absolutely not. Titanfall trumps Infamous easy. PS4 will still win the month overall thanks to being overall far more appealing as a platform, but Titanfall will keep things relatively close.

Every PS4 SOLD OUT in this link.

  • In stock on February 4, 2014
  • Only 7 left in stock. Sold by eoutlet-uk.
  • Only 1 left in stock. Dispatched from and sold by Reloadgames.

Amazon.co.uk had no PS4 unit on sale.

I'm starting to think that a 2:1 ratio in favor of the PS4 is going to be the minimum result of this gen. Sony definitely has every possible thing going in their favor.

They are talking WW, titan fall is not going to have a huge impact for a 500 dollar console with a low install base, that is also on PC, and 360. Infamous is neck and neck with titanfall btw with an extra week, it's going to be big.

How do you know?

I don´t know, nobody knows. But our friend @ethomaz has been saying for a while two things:

1- Sony is selling every single PS4 they made. There is no in stock for more than a few howers. They all vanished isntantly.

2- Sony is producing way more PS4 than MS is producing XOnes.

So I have to repeat myself for you, once again:

1. Transit time Shanghai-Europe is approx. 4-5 weeks depending on how much you are willing to pay, to NA probably a week less. If Sony only shipped units, this would mean that close to the entire December manfucatured units were on sea. If that were true, January store shelves would have been filled (ok, not filled there would have been stock every week). That didn't happen, so we can conclude that early/first half of December units (intended for January) were flown in.

2. That Sony can manufacture a lot more than MS is a Pachter rumour which I consider absolutely false (simply because it goes against Sony's own projected sales numbers). And there simply is not enough manufacturing capacity available into XMas (as really everyone is manufacturing stuff at this time).

So let's project some numbers:

1. Sony started two weeks earlier with mass manufacturing and flew in some stock for December.

2.MS manufactures about 1M units per month, Sony about 275k per week.

3. Since MS shipped 3.9mio units (of which 3mio sold through and 600-700k sold into retail), Sony sold through 4.2mio units and shipped/sold about 600-800k units by end of year. Higher numbers would really surprise me.
