Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo adding a new business, independent of video games

Here's the translated quote in English from the Nintendo.jp site:

"With that said, we wish to achieve an integrated hardware-software platform business that, instead of providing mobile or wearable features, will be characterized by a new area of what we like to call “non-wearable” technology."

Integrated hardware-software platform business... and 'non-wearable technology.'

Sounds less like services to me.

It's a new business division for Nintendo. Like Sony has TV, camera, movie, music, and even an insurance division outside of their gaming one.

Sure there may be some synergy, but generally speaking this is probably a new deal for them.

That... actually seems like a good idea. Time will tell if this new venture is successful, but I believe what matters here is that Nintendo is trying to branch out and not be so reliant on its video game business.

oh ok... It doesn't seem that bad then... As long as they are still in gaming business then I am all good.

What will this mean for their gaming division? I hope this won't effect THAT part! If we're very unlucky this new business direction will mean less games from Nintendo; just take a look at Konami (and Capcom?) - releasing few games because they're very profitable in other areas. Will this the the case for Nintendo in 5 years time?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

My (concerned) thoughts exactly.

I'm slightly scared, but let's see how this goes

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

This new business should include selling Nintendo ecstasy. They would be making money hand over fist.
