Because if 3 sells 1.7m it's certainly not dead as a doornail, that's why. It's a lot to just expect a new Ip to do 2m+ |
If 3 sold 1.7 million copies it would be from it's own merit, not the series name.

Such awesome exclusive news for xbox lately. Its not like mocroaoft to be constantly taking news with exclusive news.

Fun fact, most games don't sell 1.7 million units. Many games struggle to even a sell a million units. I could point at several IPs that would likely be continued if they could achieve those numbers. MS recently gave away Crackdown "free" for Gold members. So that tells me that's a game MS thinks highly of. |
Really? It tells me they needed a decent game they could give out for free and found something they knew nobody was buying anymore.
It sold 1.7 million copies on the back of Halo 3 7 years ago. The sequel then sold 1 million copies 3 years later. By the time C3 comes out it would have been another 5 years. They are building upon a dead series. A new IP will have the same chances of selling well as C3 does.

This is a really stupid and petty argument you know?? Crackdown 2 did amazing for only 8 months dev time. |
Speaking of stupid arguments, wtf does dev time have to do with anything? The consumer doesn;t care nor does it matter.

so whatever MS does with the Crackdown franchise - it will fail anyway, because it is dead according to you.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
I only got Crackdown 1 for the Halo 3 beta, turned out to be a fun game and I got hooked chasing all those 'orbs' - 2 was just more of the same with added zombies so didn't enjoy it as much. I'm interested in seeing what they can do with a 3rd title

No, i'm saying it will have to build it's popularity up from the ground again, because the original series is dead. That's why i ended it with "A new IP will have the same chances of selling well as C3 does."

That epic failure in the end had me literally in tears lol

So you wanna tell me that both IP's are on the decline? Ok so Infamous sold more, doesn't mean there isn't a base to improve upon with Crackdown. |
It didn't only sell more, it was more recent. Had Sony not used infamous as one of their flagship PS4 titles and left it to rot for another 2 years, i'd think making it a sequel just as pointless.

Yeah...you're really not making much sense.
You know why?
Because pretty everywhere I go, all the forums I visit, whenever Crackdown 3 is mentioned, I always see a good number of people in the thread react positively and saying they will buy it for the xbox one, given their past experiences with the original Crackdown. Now, you're saying that CD 3 would need to completely rebuild their fanbase and start from scratch to build merit, right? Well, seeing as how a ton of people want Crackdown 3 (and this is even without any Crackdown 3 confirmation or info/media), your argument is terribly flawed.
