Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft acquired Gears of War rights. Black Tusk to develop the games

They could even go down a whole new path. Keep the same universe and gameplay but entirely new enemy. Gears 3 pretty much wrapped up the Lambant / Locust conflict. In the Gears of War universe there are other planets besides Sera.

Planets like Uranus?

I'm in the minority apparently as I enjoyed Judgement (mostly loved OverRun). I think the big news here aside from acquiring the IP is that Rod Fergusson is back. Imagine it like how SOCOM people are hyped up for H-Hour just because David Sears is involved.

Either way a megaton for MS as Gears was basically THE 7th gen franchise.

That would still be COD ;)

If I were talking about sales wise, sure.

More like they bought the franchise because it was probably already in the works for ps4, which would have stabbed the Xbox brand pretty hard

Then what are you talking about? Like it or not the Cod franchise is pretty much the face of the HD-twins.

I think it's more likely, that MS wanted another Gears but Epic wasn't interested in making one.

That's a big probably.

I didn't read the article (on phone) so forgive me, but what does this mean black tusk has been working on? Are they big enough for two games? Have they been doing nothing before getting the license? Did they start working on the game before procuring the license?

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Such predictable bollocks in this thread.

Sony fans a few weeks ago (when discussion Gears on PS4): Gears might come to PS4, Whoo!
Sony fans now: Gears has overrun its course, sucks.

XBox fans a few weeks ago (when discussion Gears on PS4): Gears has overrun its course, any new games will suck.
Xbox fans now: Gears exclusive, Megaton!

It must suck to live a life with opinions that switch like this.

wow what an innovative and original look at this thread, thanks!

This is from last year:

Microsoft's recently revealed Black Tusk Studios is working on not one but four different unannounced IPs, at least according to the resume of senior product manager and planner, Jonathan Browne.
