Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft acquired Gears of War rights. Black Tusk to develop the games

Very Smart move! Although no Gears game tops 1 for me! I put more hours into that game than I can remember! 2 was a step back 3 was once again back in the right direction but for me PERSONALLY part one was the ISH!!! Even though it isn't even started yet this has just become my most anticipated XB1 game! Don't let me down Black Tusk!

I think ms is being kind of smart they have 3 big (size) studios that each have popular franchise but also a second team that can make new ips if the rumors of 343 and lionhead working on new ips is true and I dont think black tusk scrapped there new ip

I also dont believe they did.  Rod Ferguson's first day working with Black Tusk is today.  Which means Gears really hasnt even been in developement.  I highly doubt that Black Tusk has nothing from the two years they were established.

It is indeed a Megaton. Judgement sold poorly due to the game being garbage not due to people being sick of Gears.

The lack of Horde alone massively hurt that game. Before the game was even released the vast majority of Gears fans said they werent getting it. A high quality Gears of War 4 would be massive.

This is exactly what Microsoft needs to be doing: owning IPs. Make sure your blockbusters stay in house

I enjoyed Gears 1 and 2. Never got a chance to play 3 since my 360 crapped out on me before I got a chance to play it. Is Judgement really that bad to?

Also, this is why Sony is in for the fight of their lives in the US. MS is playing hard in NA and Sony doesn't have a killer game that US gamers will buy in huge numbers on day 1. Uncharted does well, but it's known for legs and bundles over time.

Let not forget that the main Epic team wasn't tied to Judgment and there was zero marketing for that game like the previous 3 games had received.

I guess you can say Sony has more marathon runners than sprinters.

The reason nobody was looking forward to Judgement was because of these reasons.  Cliff, Rod Ferguson, Tim sweeney, and others were missing from the project. People Can Fly was working on it and made huge changes to the game in bad ways.  While also making the protagonist Baird about an unspectacular event.

You can do this with a lot of games and get away with it but the Gears fanbase are some of the most hardcore fans.  I expect them t know a little of what is going on.

It's always been an exclusive hardly a megaton.
