Forums - Sony - SONY downgraded again to Junk by Moody's (outlook stable).

Sorry for my infinite ignorance but what does this mean? What happens if your company has the "junk" status?

It refers to a rating of their debts. At junk status, the ratings agencies are basically saying that there's pratically zero chance that Sony will be able to pay back their debts.... so don't buy any Sony debt.

If Sony cannot sell debt (ie, bonds), then that means that they'll struggle to continue running at a loss (where revenue is less than cost), or to make major one-time investments without generating liquidity (getting cash) by selling assets (like when they sold their big buildings last year)

It's kinda shocking to see a company doing so good and so bad at the same time.

time to find and buy my ps4,just to help them out. hahahaha.

Sony isn't going anywhere. Playstation also isn't going anywhere. Don't worry, Sony is too big to fail. The japanese government will take care of them if everything else fails. They don't want to see Sony in the hands of american companies. But I still firmly believe that Sony can do the turnaround. Sure, it will take years, but who cares. Despite all the doom talk in the last years, they still manage to build quality products, some of them considered the best in their category by respected magazines and Websites. Hell, they even managed to build a more powerful console than allmighty Microsoft with all their money and they also sell that console at a lower price. Who qould have thought that?

When it comes to products, Sony imo is on a good way. Virtually every device they released last year has been praised by both the public and the press and they also saw some significant rises in customer interest. They just need to continue with what they are doing, maybe cut the product lines some more (they already did) and dig some more into the low cost market. But overall, they are on a good way.

Thanks for clarifying this for me! I'll have to look up some terms you used though, I'm a newbie at these kind of things.

This is going to be a really important year for Sony and it's going to be interesting to see how things play out. I'm fairly confident that Sony will climb its way out of ths hole though.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Has it really come that far? One of my favourite japanese companys going bankrupt?
F*cking hilarious...

But it's not over yet, I still see them turn the ship around and rise from the ashes once more. I'm no expert at businesses so I have nothing to say there.

Sony is loosing money, everyone go buy some XB1s !!!!!

I guess all the reasons to push the xbox one all in one entertainment system input one are good these days.

Yet Nintendo is in trouble.... Let's ignore the reality of both company's situations though.

Estelle and Adol... best characters ever! XD

If Sony doesn't post a profit on the TV line next quarter then it might be time to just drop it. It's been hurting them for a decade and doesn't look to be improving.
