The XBox 360's popularity in North America and the PS3's popularity in "The Other" regions tend to cancel each other out (in the western markets the PS3 will only outsell the XBox 360 by 250,000 at the current rate); over the next several years the PS3 and XBox 360 will constantly reduce prices and release big name games which continue to cancel eachother out in the western world.

What this means is that most of the gains the PS3 can make on the XBox 360 are centered in the Japaneese market. It is possible that the PS3 can make it to 7 or 8 Million units sold in Japan but that certainly will not happen for quite some time, so I don't expect the PS3 to pass the XBox 360 until we near the end of this generation.

Close to 3.5 million. Maybe 4.5 million, if the ps3 drops to $299 and either GT5 or FFXIII make it out this year. GT5 is far more likely to hit this year than FFXIII, but I'm not getting my hopes up for either.

I think that both consoles will sell roughly the same in NA, with the ps3's big exclusives offsetting the 360's popularity.

In the EU, I think that the ps3 will outsell the 360 by at least 2 million. MGS is by far the most popular in the EU, so that should really boost sales, and if GT5 makes it out this year, then it could outsell the 360 by as much as 3 million in this territory alone.

In Japan, the 360 will be more dead than ever, since it's three big JRPGs (Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Lost Odyssey) have already hit, so it won't receive any significant sales spikes this year (Cry On won't be out until '09 at the earliest). This combined with plenty of big hits for the ps3 (White Knight Story and MGS4 should really spike sales) will cause the ps3 to outsell the 360 by at least 1.5 million, and probably much more if GT5 makes it out by Christmas.

And then there are the wildcards of Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet. Will LBP catch on like the Sims and spur casual adoption? Will Killzone 2 actually turn out AAA? If Killzone does end up being a great game, then Sony could turn into a Gears of War-type system seller with the right marketing. Of course, the chances of that happening are rather slim. ^^

i dont think it will, but 360 sales dont seem to moving up, it been at 16 million for a long time, so maybe the ps3 will pass it this year

I would go for 4 million, with NA levelish, Japan 2m and Europe 2m

anyways if you know at the graph, the weekly numbers that the ps3 outsells the xbox360 is getting smaller

PS3 will outsell the Xbox by 40 million. The PS2 will also see a resurgence and bury both the xbox 360 and Wii as well. The PSP will achieve 50 percent of the handheld market. This is a joke.

and ps3 will win europe 1.00 mil

I could the PS3 outselling it by 3 mil this year, but that number could change due to delays/price drops.
