Hmm, pie.
Any Mario game. He has a "thing" for Luigi. They live happily ever after. Game over.

Make Zelda 'too' realistic - (seriously I don't need Skyrim like graphic, I want a colorful world)

Am I missing something? When where Dissidia and Dissidia 012 about story? Both are fighting games, the focus is on the battles, not the story. |
That's not even what I'm saying. I said the franchise is already ruined with how bad the recent games are, one way to ruin it even more is take out all the battles and have the long stretch of hallways, running back and forth, and poor story. Basically I pointed out that the most recent Final Fantasy games have had poor storyline, so I have high doubts that any future Final Fantasy will have anything that isn't garbage.
However, just because it's a fighting game doesn't mean it can't have a lot of story. Dissidia and Dissidia Duodecim both have story heavy single player modes that do focus on the story. The single player, the only way to get all the summons, all equipment, increase your equipment slots, etc, is a chore to play through. Another story heavy fighter is Persona 4 Arena, with well over an hour of story for each character. There's so much story in Persona 4 Arena that it asks if you want to place a bookmark after each battle. With Dissidia, it just auto saves.
Assassin's Creed: Make AC3 the future of the series.

One exception doesn't make the rule. Having not played Persona 4 myself, I have played a lot of fighters that are based on pre-existing franchises or story-heavy franchises. Budokai, any of the Marvel Fighting games, etc, etc. And the main common point between them is the gameplay itself, not the story.
Both Dissidia's SP are hardly a chore to playthrough, especially the first one as it's basically just a big boardgame scenario, hardly something in which you'd put a storyline into. With Dissidia's 012 that would be a bigger issue, since they incorporated an actual world map and gave it much more RPG-like mechanics as well, but even so, in contrast with the original dissidia, they also bumped up the story, making it much more cohesive between the characters and giving it a conducive strand that actually makes sense.
While it isn't the citizen kane of storylines, for the type of game, it's solid. And the inclusion of a world map, side fights, shops, etc, etc. I can hardly see how you would call it a chore, other than the fact that it takes a very long time to finish. But hey, those were some of the things that fans wanted after the first Dissidia, a much more RPG-heavy approach and for the game to feel more FF-like (both things were accomplished rather well).
I don't exactly disagree with your points of view regarding the main FF games, especially for FFXIII and FFXIII-2, but let's call a spade, a spade. You can't judge games of a series, set in different genres, by the same metric. As good as Persona 4 Arena might be, if you judge it solely by a JRPG standard wouldn't it fall completely short of the metric? Would you still think it's fair to say that the Persona series had dwindled because of Arena if someone pointed that out?.
Sorry if this seems a heated response to you. I love both Dissidia games and you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger fan of both games on this site than me and as much as I feel that FF is running away from it's roots, both games have been some of the best experiences I've had with the series.
