Moral of the story: don't watch people making YT videos for money expecting completely honest commentary and insight, just like you wouldn't watch a McDonalds commercial and believe the $1 cheeseburger being shown is actually as fresh and juicy and tasty as advertised.

Well when you watch a Mcdonalds commercial, you know you're watching one. When you're watching Francis for example, fat gamer guy on YT, you think he's giving his own opinion as a fellow gamer. If i knew he was paid, i wouldn't belive him saying The Last of Us is good or whatever.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Thing is Xbox 1 is a great console with a great launch lineup out the gate, yet is still hated on for its PR blunders months before it launched. The hate on it is not deserved. For someone to get paid to say the consoles good traits in spite of a sea of badmouthing......Id say that's more productive then Sony fans trolling for free....

And just because this news made it to the general public....you guys are seriously going to sit there and assume Sony is sqeaky clean?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Oh no! It's like they are trying to make people to buy their games. Marketing I believe is what's called, but I'm not sure.

I just find it funny how people are taking this out of proportion. Why you think companies pay celebrities to talk about their products? the answer is obvious and the same applies here, the only difference is that is way cheaper to pay a youtuber than to pay a celebrity.

Doesn't seem like any of the youtubers I watch is there, and even if they were, I would keep watching them because they are funny. And what they say won't me make buy a MS console ever.

Why do people keep saying this is the same as a celebrity endorsement? When I see LeBron in a Nike commercial, I know Nike paid him (because it's a Nike commercial) to say good things and there's a Nike logo at the end of the commercial, letting consumers know that this is advertising for a Nike product.

But when I see a typical game reviewer on YouTube, I'm expecting an unbiased opinion on a game. Not a review that can only say positive things and no negative things. I'm not expecting a "Microsoft commercial", if you will. If MS wants to pay people to be positive, fine. But there should be an MS tag at the end of the reviews, so we know that MS paid for it. Then it'll be the same as "companies paying celebrities to talk about their products".

What you guys aren't factoring in is that when celebrities talk about a product, we know that the company paid them. If the news of the MS/Machinima plan hadn't been let out, we wouldn't know that MS was paying YouTubers. Is the difference really that hard to comprehend?

Yes!!!!!! Make them aware of the good games for the system. Some still dont know some things about the system due mostly to the spreading of garbage rumors. Downplaying of nearly everything about it also.

The point in this thread is nothing to do with MS advertising or Sony 'clean' record, we as gamers know the Xbox One is a good console like all 3 home consoles are, this thread is about the trustworthiness of YouTubers. Can you really trust their opinion when  it can be swayed by an extra $3?

Hmm, pie.

Well this will backlash on the youtubers as well! People will probably watch less of the content or unsubscribe.

I'm happy all of this is out in the open.

I also don't recognize any of those channels so i guess I'm watching the few youtubers who have some integrity
