Forums - Sales - VIZIO ditches 3D TVs. 3D is DOOM

4k adds nothing for most people at normal viewing distances. I think dolby vision is much more important and can be appreciatted at any viewing distance. Creating more realistic colour levels and contrast is far more significant than a resolution advantage that can't be seen. Totally smooth animation and motion is more important too than 4k too. 4k seems a much better fit to projectors.

3d with glasses in the home was doomed from day one. Just a way for manufacturers to get us to buy new tv's.

The reality is a 1080p HD tv is enough for almost everyone... but they need to keep selling stuff to us.

its all 4k now and I will jump in like all the other mugs out there.

They just tricked you into buying a 3D TV (4K HD TVs).

And with 3D Blu-Ray Players being around $50 & up, while 3D Blu-Rays are $15 to $25, and both Netflix & Hulu Plus gives you 3D streaming on a lot of current movies as part of your $8 subscription for free...

They got their fangs in you already and you don't even feel it, like a vampire bat on a pig. LOL

i think 3d is here to stay this time, or atleast be a far bigger market than in the past. A lot of tv's come with 3d now, you can 3d content on demand and the games consoles do 3d. Glassless is better, but I have a 3d tv that I enjoy watching movies in 3d on, and when i have 3d games i play them in 3d as well.

I agree with you.

3D seems to be here to stay.

The international market revenue has 88% of itself from 3D screenings alone. The latest 3D movies, both high selling & low selling get 80% of their American revenue from 3D screenings like Gravity & 47 Ronin.

Which of these 3D Ready systems listed below do you own?

360

PS3

3DS

Wii U

PS4

ONE

3D phones are the only bad 3D I've heard of before any TVs tried glasses-free 3D, but a bunch of glasses-free 3D TVs are good, but I don't know what percentage of them.

The Nintendo 3DS does glasses-free 3D right. The only complaint is in Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D having ghost effects, but it's not that bad in Ocarina of Time. Anyways, everything else on the Nintendo 3DS is just great with NO problems.

But yeah, 3D phones don't k iw hiw to do glasses-free 3D. Every review I've read about 3D phones also mentions how the Nintendo 3DS has a way more better display in every way.

Nintendo 3DS seems to be the first thing to ever do glasses-free 3D right, but to be fair Nintendo tested it on the GameBoy Advance SP & Nintendo DS original, so by the time they tested it on Nintendo 3DS they had finally had their latest glasses-free 3D tech up to speed on proper display quality.

Nintendo also did 3D in 1982 successful Famicom 3D and later on Virtual Boy, and then GameCube but disabled it on GameCube and they tested 3D on Wii.

So Nintendo had tried 3D on 6 different things since 1982 before doing it on their 7th 3D tested System with the Nintendo 3DS which is the first to do Glasses-free 3D on a Nintendo system but the 3rd to have it tested on a Nintendo system.

3DS doomed confirmed.
