Forums - Gaming - So.....what exactly is going on with Halo 5?

There's even less info on Yarn Yoshi.

They want all the Hype to be towards Titanfall atm, once Titanfall is out MS will move towards hyping Halo 5.

I can see it now.

No info till E3. There they announce the name and confirm it's releasing this year. A while later we get a launch date and find out 343 passed it on to nStigate. A month before release we get our first screenshots. Review copies aren't even sent out and it gets a 33 metacritic.

Quickly becomes the system's second best selling game regardless.

Meh, I've lost all interest in Halo after 4, which sucks because I used to be a huge fan. I loved Halo CE and Halo 2 to death back in the day but I've found every Halo since to be increasingly disappointing.

Halo 4 introduced the story to a whole load of new members and groups who could all well have their own story off to the side akin to the Halo3:ODST game which happened just after the ship jumped from Earth in Halo 2.

Maybe they'll start a spin off with Conan and Andy Richter from their Job minding those boxes in the hanger :D Coco would well up for it no doubt.

Uncharted PS4 has been worked on since 2011, when Uncharted 3 released. By the time it releases, lets say Xmas 2014, it would be 3 years of work.

Yet they wanna rush the new Halo in 2 years? I don't believe it unless they going for a quick mediocre release, I expect it 2015.

Uncharted for PS4 likely entered preproduction in 2011, but I'm sure that the vast majority of their team was working on The Last of Us during that time, so only preliminary work would have been done, work on the engine, the story, and concept art mostly. It likely didn't enter full development until about May 2013 when The Last Of Us was completed.

No, as said above Naughty Dog has more than one team.

so does 343i,  lionhead and turn 10.

Lol, I loved that little skit that Conan and Andy did.

There will probably be some spin-offs in the future, someone from Microsoft recently mentioned that they wanted to release some Halo games from genres other than FPS (Halo Wars 2 and a Halo RPG both seem likely possibilites). Personally I wouldn't mind learning more about Lasky between the events of Forward Unto Dawn and Halo 4, how he made is way up to Commander and what kind of role he played during the events of the Covenenant War. But they'll probably explore that in a novel or in the TV show, I doubt it'll get a spin-off game.

I get the feeling that after this next Halo in 2014 they'll release Halo 2 HD in 2015, some kind of spin-off in 2016, and then the next main Halo game in 2017. 343i is big enough for concurrent development on two games at once, and Microsoft has frequently enlisted the help of Certain Affinity to help out Bungie and 343i and they likely will continue to do so in the future, so yearly Halo releases of some kind are definitely a possibilty going forward.

If 343 wanted to do it the same as Halo CE then you could see the HD version of Halo 2 out this November in line with the 10th anniversary of the games release, could be awesome since it's currently the only Halo game where you need to go back to the original Xbox if you want to play through them all.

As for the underlined.... that would be incredible, even from the amount of time people put into getting the gear upgrades from the Armory of Halo reach then if you dropped that into an MMO or just RPG envoirnment.... the amount of human life that game could consume is bordering on scary, knowing I'd lose a year to it without even blinking.

Your concerns will be answer in the next E3, just wait for it.

Seriously were now in 2014. The game is due for release at some point this year and there hasn't even been a single screenshot for the game. No trailers either outside of the announcement trailer.  Halo games usually have a massive build up of hype with tons of media, screenshots, and info. This is the first time a Halo game comes out in less than a year and weve never even seen a glimpse of the game.

So whats going on? Is MS just being ultra secretive?  Is there some kind of development issues?  Either way the lack of ANY info is strange.

Dude. alo Reach,  Halo 3 and Halo 4 all had no gameplay untill the E3 right befoe the Xmas it released. Its always been that way. It generates buzz for 6 months and helps sales. Micrrosoft  have always done this with Halo.

Didn't they claim it will be 1080P/60 at the reveal? I wouldn't be surprised if they have some trouble pulling that off with great visuals. 343i are a talented bunch, but it seems a tall order for the XOne.
