Sony should be confident telling the selling numbers of PS4 even when they don't win the month, it will be more elegant and a sign of confidence that you will do better next time. This way, you just look like a bad loser...

And respecting Xbox One numbers, it's like Microsoft knew the number of shipments of PS4, and decided to outship them just enough to beat PS4 and claim victory. If I was Microsoft i will do the same too, even if this means not shipping enough in other markets like UK...

Seeing the disparity of Xbox One sold in USA and the rest of the world, is obvious Microsoft will do whatever they can to at least be tied with PS4 in USA.

Sony didn't share even when they won.

That's true , but even Sony made an annoucement saying PS4 was the nº1 in USA in November, but yeah, it would be nice if they always said the numbers.

Unless 3DS comes in at over 1.15m for December, this is the first year in over a decade that no system has topped 4m units in the US.

If you listen to for lack of a bett

Nvm ok Xbox One sits on shelves not selling or restocking. AT ALL. Funny almost everyone has anecdotal evidence also. WiiU is a dead machine with no one to sell to also. PS4 is never in stores. Like ever. If you disagree with this they will hound you for "evidence" that way they can call across seas/states just to prove your ass a liar.

Honestly I'm starting to think if MS can get to relative price parity or even within $50 soon, they can start to take it to Sony in the US.

US = XBox Land. Sony's brand has fallen a lot in the US, XBox is the defacto brand for hardcore gamers now.

huh? overall their(ms) losing in the us and won in dec for one single reason only,supply.. if the ps4 was as supplied equally in the us as the one,it would have outsold the one by hundreds of thousands in dec, .. instead,ms has a huge chunk of un-bought consoles stacked pyramid style half-way to the ceiling in 9 out of every 10 stores you walk in.. without mentioning the monster sized sony supply strain,it tells a very incomplete story(understatement)

the ps4's popularity world wide is spreading the supply out so thin, you might see jan/feb turn out the same way, with ms just coming out on top at the end of the month by default cause its the only place where its semi-popular and heavily supplied. all imo

does anyone know if last year's NPD for December was 5 weeks also?

i dont need to pick up a phone or talk to a single person to see stock levels. hate to burst your bubble. Also, try to keep up. it is 3 weeks into January.

NPD uses a retail calendar - it always is like this:

March, June, Sept, Dec - 5 weeks, other eight months - four weeks. Only exception is that once every seven years you add a 5th week to January because three five week months and eight four week months comes out to 364 days - and a year is 365 days.

Sorry if I am repeating info but according to this (http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=220586) Dec 2013 was Wii U's best month ever. And last Dec it sold over 500K...so is Wii U massively undertracked or am I screwing something up along the way?

this is NPD, which is just usa sales. this isnt world wide.

did you say the same for the november npd otherwise this is pretty hypocrite

"fastest selling console" is not a fact.

Neither is assuming PS4 would have outsold the XB1 in NA if there was more supply, but for some reason people are treating it as such.

It may not be 100% fact but when one is constantly sold out and the other is not with a gap of less than 100,000 and both consoles approaching 1 million in sales for the time period, then it becomes a reasonable conclusion. Especially when the large week 3 shipment of PS4's sold out and put it over the X1 for that week.

All I needed was it isn't 100 percent fact.

Don't even need to walk into any stores. All you really need to do is look for online availability. X1 is available from a number of retailers online and has been for weeks. In fact, it's been available through Best Buy's website since the end of the second week of December. PS4, on the other hand, is constantly sold out and stock of it doesn't even last 24 hours. There's no sense in getting into a contest of "superior anecdotal evidence" when a couple of keystrokes every few days can pretty much paint the picture and no one needs to burn fuel to see it.
