I'll take GX over X any day. I could have done without a few of the tracks Rol mentioned (particularly Big Blue - Ordeal, Half Pipe and Phantom Road and any track that allowed you to launch off the track for simply going too fast) but it was fast, fun and challenging.
Also I don't mind brutal AI but they should still have to play by the same rules. The problem in GX is that it is pretty much 29 against 1. Your main opponent rarely, if ever, gets taken out by the AI, whereas you are starting from the back of the field and there are 28 guys determined (particularly on the higher difficulty levels) to stop you from catching up with 1st place, made more difficult by the fact that they are programmed without any sense of self preservation.
OT: I'd buy it. Somewhere between flop and million seller.
might sell on the 3ds due to nostalgia, but I don't ever think it'll ever be as big as it was on the snes. In fact I think it didn't really needed to be a franchise, just a stand alone game, but that being said, if they made it absolute eye-candy like forza and gran-turismo it could maybe make some sales.
Let's just say that both F-Zero X and GX were great racers, but flawed enough so that a more refined sequel would be appreciated.
Or we can accept the fact that Mario Kart ate F-Zero (get it? Mario Kart 8?). I know I already have, and I believe the ultimate result could be glorious.

Sadly, I don't think that F-Zero will ever return to its former glory.
Back then in the 90s simple onward racing that was supposedly 500mph was the shit. Those days sadly passed and nowadays only fans remember F-Zero. Also the franchise never became a big household name. (compared to other racing games such as Need for speed, GT and Forza)
But still, I'm hoping for a new HD F-Zero, with an up to 16 people online multiplayer and a story that's close to GX.

Heres what i think. If its an F-zero with the GX engine on the 3DS. Yeah... it will sell really well, might even make to a million.
If its a brand new one on the Wii U, lets toss something up there, developed by SEGA with Sumo digital. It would be an awesome game, but it probably would push numbers similar to GX on the Gamecube.
I would personally get either one. I love F-zero GX on the GC (still have it). I didnt like the GBA/SNES ones though they had good music at the time.
I love futuristic racing well done (love Wipeout aswell).
| RolStoppable said: I think Nintendo isn't making another F-Zero on home consoles, because so many people insist that GX was great, thus sending the message to Nintendo that GX was perfect and that there's simply not a big enough audience to make a sequel worthwhile. Wake up, people. GX was truly disappointing. I spit on the game and so should you. Middle finger to Amusement Vision. |
GX wasn't great in a few areas. The story mode was beyond hard. Plus, having the AX parts bascially locked out, unless you used a action replay. Or went to a state that had a AX machine, didn't help either.

I wouldn't mind an remake of F-zero on tablets as a test for ninendo's next hardware

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.
I doubt F-Zero as a franchise would be strong enough to reach sales beyond 1 million. However, I do believe it would be a great game on either 3DS or Wii U, or on both systems. It would most likely still be a profitable venture for Nintendo, even with sales below 1 million copies worldwide.
For Wii U I'd say it could see sales of aprox. 500 000 based on an installed base of 30-35 million systems.
For 3DS it could see sales of aprox. 900 000 based on an installed base of 100 million systems.
I think a little rebranding could do some wonders...
The sci-fi suits most of the characters wear are horrendously corny...
Furthermore, Black Shadow is the lamest bad guy ever...
F-Zero always had great racing, but the characters need to get with the times...
Have a nice day...
