News broke last week that Next Level Games said they are only going to work with Nintendo in foreseeable future. However, now it is official, as Next Level Games has signed an exclusive deal with Nintendo to make games. This gives Nintendo another fantastic studio to work with. Next Level Games co-founder Jason Carr briefly discussed the deal with Gamasutra.  

“We have worked with a lot of other companies before, and we’re super happy with our relationship with Nintendo.There’s no reason to look anywhere else. They keep giving us better and better IP to work with, and as long as we do our job and make good games for them there’s no reason for us to venture out.”

nice! Nintendo needs to work with more 3rd parties and test them out and then makem 2nd party! Platinum games next maybe?

I just know I've read this before because I trolled the Wii U in the same thread and had a good laugh about it.

That's nice, but why doesn't Nintendo just buy them outright?

I don't like that phrase very much. It's never very clear.

Given how well LM2 was recieved, this seems like a logical next step, hopefully they're given free reign some time in the future to create something new, or at least get given some other big IP so that Nintendo's existing studios can try their hand at something different. Could be a nice way to diversify their portfolio without the same level of risk a brand new game would bring

the question is what will they be working on next? will it be the rumored HD port of Luigi's Mansion: DM for WiiU (which I don't see the point of) or a new game? or will they go back to Punch-out?

It has been almost a year since LM:DM so we might see their next game in this months ND
