the question is what will they be working on next? will it be the rumored HD port of Luigi's Mansion: DM for WiiU (which I don't see the point of) or a new game? or will they go back to Punch-out?

It has been almost a year since LM:DM so we might see their next game in this months ND

means nothing long term, just look at Rare. Things can change.

Short term though its definitely good news for Nintendo as it gives them another studio to help out with first party content.

more message errors from vgc... booooo. oh well, shorter comment; I really hopes this pans out and nintendo buys them ( so long as there as good as nintendo thinks). Then hope platinum games heads down a similar path. Don't think platinum is the type that's interested in being bought though.

Haven't heard of them before Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon

What other games have they made?

They made punch out!! for Wii and Mario Strikers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Next_Level_Games

Never played Punch out for the Wii so I can't comment on that one. But Mario Strikers was freaking amazing! the other tittles they made look very lackluster though.

They are a good studio as long as they work closely with nintendo (same history as Retro). The reason they are not looking elsewhere is that they said they are happy with the output when working with nintendo (And obviously royalties must be high as well) so there is no need to look anywhere else.

They still are an independent studio, and probably that the best thing for both Nintendo and NLG. Iwata has stated multiple times that buying studios and then losing the people behind the studio is not a good practice for Nintendo.

Then you can probably see that this arrangement works in NLG's favor.

That's great. I thought Mario Strikers was ok (not really my thing) but I really enjoyed Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon.

And I freak'n loved Punch Out for the Wii; one of my most played Wii games due to all of the challenges.  The only disappointment was the lack of new characters but if that were rectified I'd kill for a similarly great Punch Out for WiiU.

Nintendo has finally started to pull its head from the sand I see. Good for them, throw that money around.

That's great news for both Nintendo and Next Level! Hopefully this will lead to a more steady stream of games to Nintendo consoles
