I expect X will take the crown easily this year just based on Monolithsoft's work. They are what Squaresoft once was.

X looks head and shoulders better than anything else shown for the system so far, at least from a technical perspective.

Having played only SM3DW and WW HD, I'd have to with the first. The technical quality of 3D World is completely amazing and has literally blow my mind in some of the later levels in the game.

The World Bowser opening scene is one of the most gorgeous scenes in any videogame to me. And it was all being rendered in real time!

Its got to be Mario 3D world, followed by Windwaker HD and Pikmin 3. May i also add that the lighting effects in Zombi U are top notch too, the whole look of the game suits the dark atmosphere.

Tell yourself whatever you like, but ZombiU was very low grade on graphics technology. Generally poor animations, lighting, textures, etc by the standards of other similar games.

I'm not sure if that game even had textures. The lighting was good, everything else was just OK

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Pikmin is good looking but I hope to god its far from the best, i see polygons where I should not. What ever is best now i think will be easily surpassed.

Id guess X will be the best looking, I think a Metroid game with its art style would top it.

I have only played 2 games (without counting VC or indie games) on my Wii U: WW HD and Mario 3D World. Out of those 2, 3D World is the best looking game both technically and visually. Videos on web don't do justice on how great that game looks on an HD TV.

This x1000.

Most of the videos that I've seen on the web from most Wii U games seem to be taken from the gamepad screen, or at least look like it, since they have the same washed out colour and similar lightning effects. On the TV, the colours are much more vibrant, the image much more sharper and the lightning less bloomy and more natural.

There are several more impressive Wii U games than Pikmin 3 in my view; 3D World, Trine 2, Need for Speed, Nano Assault. Pikmin suffered a little from starting off as a Wii game and being one of Nintendo's first awkward steps into the HD realm. I still think it looks pretty thanks to great art though.

And I agree that the current best will be easily topped by what's coming this year; X, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Yarn Yoshi, FAST Racing Neo.

You said exactly what I wanted to: Pikmin 3 started as a Wii game.  While they essentially "remastered" it in HD for the Wii U, some early development signs of its Wii days are definitely still there, as they probably wanted to maintain the budget rather than scrap everything and start over by upscaling existing assets.
