Doubt it. You also need to remember the power difference between XBONE and PS4 is much larger than it was with PS3 and 360. If it happens it'll be under some really strange circumstance.

Is 'strange circumstances' a monetary term I'm not familiar with?

I think it's just two words often put together.

Circumstance is the state of affairs, the conditions, the situation. So a strange circumstance essentially means a strange situation. Maybe the game engine was built from the ground up for ESRAM as an XBONE exclusive, but then three months before release a PS4 port is announced. That would be an out of the ordinary situation, a strange circumstance.

Are you English?

Yes I'm English. Are you familiar with the term 'tongue in cheek'? :)

No. The difference between 360 and PS3 was minimal, and PS3 has a more difficult architecture. One and PS4 have the same architecture while PS4 is substantially more powerfull (roughly 50% more GPU power, faster memory and by some recent reports it even can have a CPU with a higher clock).

from what i read the ps4 and xb1 cpu clocks are the same speed but the xb1 has to reserver some for the kinect thus effectively making it seem like less.

I remember both were rumoured at 1.6GHz. Before the launch, it was confirmed that X1 got an overclock to 1.75GHz. Some week ago, some rumours were saying the PS4 CPU were indeed a 2GHz one, but we don't have any official word yet.

i didnt read about the 2ghz rumor i read one about it being 1.8 and having 2 compute units disabled for now on the gpu, i get the feeling that sony hasnt said the speed of its chips so they can bump it up to get better performance at later date, the chip in it can run up to 2ghz, but i think they have it underclocked to keep heat issues down while they fully test a future firmware that bumps it up.  Why they have 2 compute units disabled i have no clue.

One for the OS and one for yields.

Nope, as others have likely said that will never be the case unless the third party sabotages their game on purpose (this includes forced parity).

Both systems are "virtually identical" in their hardware configuration...

with the PS4 beeing better in almost ever category (memory system, GPU, API overhead etc) the only thing we don´t know for sure is which CPU is better,

The X1 will probably be the one to get ports now.

I think it'll have at least one game. At least one developer is going to fuck something up somewhere.

Will game x on PC ever look better on a HD7770 than on a 7850.

The PS4 is faster its extremly similar to Xbone technically but has a noticable poweradvantage.

Despite the power difference, a good number of multiplatform games did end up looking better on the X360 than they did on the PS3, this is because of 3 reasons (from what I can think of).

1. The PS3 Cell CPU was complex, and it took devs years to be able to optimize games for it, and make them look better on PS3.
2. The X360 architecture mimiced PC architecture, and thus developing for the X360 was easy.
3. The X360 released a year earlier, so devs had more time with the dev kits.

This time around though, not only is the Sony platform still more powerful then the MS platform, the 3 reasons why X360 games looked better (sometimes) then PS3 games are all gone.

1. & 2. PS4 & XBO have a similar architecture, both easy to develop for.
3. PS4 & XBO released at the same time.

So with PS4 being a more powerful system, and multiplatform launch titles already looking noticeably better on PS4 (e.g. 1080p for CoD Ghosts on PS4, 720p on XBO), will XBO multiplatform games ever look better then PS4 games?

I am, but I was hoping you were serious.

That's like asking if your 6 inch schlong will ever be bigger than my 9 inch schlong.

No.

If anything, the gap will widen as the gen moves on.
