Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why so many Wii U haters???

There are at least AT LEAST 100 reasons to find a disagreement with when it comes to the Wii U. But I truely think they will just ride it out (Nintendo), and most Wii U owners will get some memorable titles so why should you care?

just because its the norm doesnt mean its good. Disaster is a strong word, but half of Ninty's console history? Yeah it aint great. Especially looking at your numbers. that means it declined gen after gen while others have incresed. GC flopped, much as I like that console, 10 mil more aint great. Especially following Wii U's success one would think that at least 50% of those buyers would stick around

ontop of that you also have to take into consideration the explosive growth the industry had in the mid 90s. The NES and SNES were huge success and phenoms when they launched. Then the PS1 launched and stole the show expanding the market. The consoles now a days are selling to more people in more markets and matching 15+year old systems isnt great.

its not even matching that. Wii U probably wont hit N64 levels, and thats not good no matter how someone wants to spin it

nice rebuttal, the sales show that people have lost interest in the Wii by a lot. People are buying games well after its replacement? how much people? what kind of games? how often? Answer these questions. People are buying games for PS3 and 360 and will continue to do so and their replacements are out, whats your point? For a system that was that popular and sold that much, it should be selling more software, period

The "kind of games" is irrelevant, as are comparisons to PS3/360. The point is, the idea that everyone just abandoned their Wii a month after buying it and never went back is fanboy slander that the numbers do not support.

Wii's attach rate is about 7. If everyone just played it for a month then abandoned it, the attach rate would be 2.

If you have solid figures to back this up, then by all means post them.

From this week's VGChartz numbers:

Wii software total: 866,987,924

Wii hardware total: 100,686,742

Take away Wii Sports, and you have 7.6 games per Wii console.

a large portion of the top selling wii games were heavilly bundled, wii sports resort, wii fit, as was wii play which saw a large portion of its sale as a result of the additional controller provided in the box. then taking in to account people buying new consoles to replace broken ones or to buy into new bundles, realistically youre looking at a 5.8 - 6.8 attach rate.

same goes for ps3 and 360 obviously, though since theyre still selling well and receiving solid new releases its anyones guess what their attach rates will end up at.

in any case, all attach rate tells us is that at some point or another the console sold x amount of games per unit, that number could have been a lot higher and progressively reduced as further units sold, but attach rate would not show that unless monitored consistently.

attach rate, therefor, is not proof that large numbers of owners are still using it, just proof that at one point or another they bought games, be it one or two or many.

Nobody buys 7-8 games when they buy  a console.

This week, 14 months after it was replaced, Wii sold 21 times as much software as hardware.

No it isnt, when you present data you have to present data. Comparisons are not irrelevant otherwise how will will have a barometer? You dont want to do comparisons because you want the Wii to exist in a bubble, its not. No one is saying that people arent buying software for WIi they are saying they are not buying alot for the amounts of systems that have been show and the numbers do support that. Especially when you bring in the other two systems which surprise to surprise you think are irrelevant to the conversation.

PS3 and 360 have no relevancy as to whether people abandon their Wiis shortly after purchase and never goback. (Which by and large they don't, claims otherwise are fanboy propaganda)

Wii's attach rate is 7. That alone ends the argument.

attach rates dont mean anything. All that matters is software sold and Wii has not sold that much software in 2013. Software sold is the only factor in determining if people are actually buying games for the system. Their that ends the argument.

YOu are right about PS360 they dont determine whether people bought the Wiis and dropped them they do show what software sales SHOULD be

If every Wii owner dropped the system like a bad habit, the attach rate would be 2-4. It's not, it's 7-8.
